Jurin Sushi — Restaurant in New York

It was a casual dinner at Jurin Sushi. Location-wise, it’s kind of on an off street around 36th and there were definitely some suspicious people in that area so I ran upstairs, it’s on the 2nd floor btw. But walking up was actually really cute with the framed fish drawings and the graphic cat and sushi art, very cozy and playful vibes.

They had a good selection of sushi on the menu and I went with the nigiri set which also came with 6 spicy tuna rolls. I honestly thought the spicy tuna was the best part so yummy, good flavor. The sushi overall isn’t anything super special but I like how the sets come with either a salad or miso soup, makes it feel more worth it even if it’s slightly on the pricey side. I will say one of the nigiri piece was cut from an odd part of the fish, the spline so it was chewy and had a less favorable texture for me.

It’s a really small space, like only 2 little tables for dine-in and bar seating so it’s first come first serve. Definitely a more take out place! The old couple running it was really sweet and helped clear our table, it definitely feels like a mom and pop place. I recently dined at Jurin Sushi and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded my expectations.

The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Every bite was a burst of flavor, and I could tell that the chefs take great pride in their craft. The variety of fish and creative rolls on the menu left me spoiled for choice. I particularly loved the Toro roll and Eel avo roll, which was a true culinary delight.

The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They were more than willing to answer any questions and provide recommendations. It made the evening even more enjoyable.

The restaurant's ambiance was also top-notch. It had a modern yet cozy feel, perfect for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. The lighting and décor added to the overall experience.

I can't recommend FutoMaki enough. It's a place where you can savor delicious sushi, enjoy excellent service, and have a memorable dining experience. I'll definitely be returning soon!

Very tasty and affordable sushi! I was going to a show at Hayes Theater and wanted sushi prior to the show. Everything we had was fresh and delicious and the service was fast and attentive. We ordered the following items: 12 piece sashimi tasting (4.5/5; incredible, fresh and delicious, the white tuna, salmon, and yellowtail were my favorites), California avocado salad (4/5: everything was very fresh and tasty. The dressing wasn't very flavorful though), miso soup (5/5; hot, delicious, and perfect for a cold NYC day), hot green tea (5/5; simple and refreshing), yellow tail roll w/ scallion (4.5/5; very solid and fresh fish), spicy scallop roll (4/5; very tasty, good sized chunks of scallop and lightly mixed with a spicy mayo).
