Editing this review and adding a star because of ownerâs response. The owner reached out to me via email with a very thoughtful reply which I appreciated! I got a full refund and an offer to do another room but honestly I feel like a lot of my feedback still stands đ¤ˇââď¸. Iâd recommend coming here only if you set your expectations and perhaps opt for a different room than I picked.
We felt that the âSugar Rushâ room was just ok. Iâve done a handful of rooms across the US but this one was my least favorite.
Overall, the whole room felt very run down. There were 3 instances where something was malfunctioning which prevented us from completing the puzzle even though we were doing things correctly. In one of these instances, a necessary part of the room was just missing. We tried using the walky-talky to communicate with the game master but she never once talked with us. She just used the TV to send us hints even though we already were doing what the hint said. We just had to guess to keep moving forward in the room. I totally get that itâs not the businessâs fault when someone vandalizes the room but I wish our room had been fully inspected before we went in so we could have known ahead of time. We told the game master about the issues when we left and she was thankful but it didnât really mean much because we already escaped the room.
Also with 4 people, we felt the room was a bit on the easy side despite having a â7.5 difficultyâ level just like every other room on the website except for one. The puzzles were all some variation of entering a code or series of some sort to unlock the next puzzle. We appreciated how some puzzles required you to use other senses like taste or smell though. I feel like this room would be more fun for kids.
Customer service was a bit odd too. The woman helping us was chill but seemed to want us out asap. She told us to wait in the waiting area for her to unlock our locker with our items, left for a bit, and then just sat back at the desk without saying another word. After waiting for 10 min I had to ask what we were waiting for and she said she already unlocked the locker. I probably wouldnât take a star off for this but it seemed kind of weird that she walked away without saying anything. At other rooms Iâve been to, the game master usually acts really excited that we escaped and offers to take our picture but that wasnât the case here.
I hope other rooms are better maintained but I donât recommend this particular room and probably will...
Read moreAfter completing all of the current available rooms at Exit Escape Room, I wanted to update my review to share my opinion on High Speed and The Perfect Crime. See my previous review for Sugar Rush!
High Speed - I did High Speed with a group of 5, but a group of 3 or 4 could definitely do it. In my opinion, this is the most challenging room of the ones we have done at Exit, though it is easier compared to other escape rooms in the city. What I enjoy about the puzzles at Exit is that they are not necessarily lock puzzles and they are pretty interactive. If you bring a team with unique strengths, everyone will be able to contribute!
The Perfect Crime - I did The Perfect Crime with a group of 3, which was a good size for the room. Even though it is rated more difficult than High Speed, I really did not think that was the case. However, I think this one is easier if you have done the other rooms at Exit. The one thing that I did not like during this room was that the moderator gave us hints too quickly. Not to sound ungrateful, but she did not give us think time, which is sometimes where the joy comes in.
Overall, I like the interactive components of Exit, but I think their rooms could be more challenging. Therefore, I would highly recommend Exit to beginners. I also think that if their pricing is higher for smaller groups, the rooms should be challenging enough where everyone in the group does something. There is not enough to do in these rooms with a group...
Read moreI visited NYC in January this year and I wanted to do an escape room after +150 rooms done in Spain at this moment. I booked with a friend a private game (High Speed NYC), only 2 people and during the presentation the GM told us that there was something that should be done by 3 people but it would be feasible by 2 people and he would let us know. He never let us know as promised. We had to discover it by ourselves. We even saw a possibility to do something but refused the option since he didn't say anything as promised, spending more than 15 min with that.
During the first part of the game, the GM was sometimes answering to our questions... when 15 min left, he didn't answer to our questions, he never said ANYTHING and of course, we didn't get out. I didn't get angry because I didn't get out, but because the GM ignored our questions!
Seems that only 1 GM available for 3 games there, he ignored us and we paid 100$!!! I was really furious but since it was my first experience in US,didn't say anything, because maybe the rules were different. I spoke to some people that did the game before and seems that I had a really bad experience because of the GM ignoring us most of the game.
As well, I see that this game says that is really high-technology. I was REALLY disappointed, since this is the kind of technology that is used in Spain in any normal escape, nothing spectacular.
I wouldn't recommend it AT ALL. I don't pay 100$ for 1 hour just to see how a...
