United Settlement — Local services in New York

I called united Settlement yesterday not truly understanding how they might be able to help me or even exactly how settlement differed from bankruptcy or consolidation loans. Jonathan was awesome, he explained every detail and ensured I completely understood each portion of the settlement process before moving to the next detail. He frequently asked if I understood and if I had any additional questions. He showed me with a graph the differences between settlements and debt consolidation, credit counseling and making minimum payments. I already understood exactly what bankruptcy does to your credit for 10 years. After seeing the huge differences in each of these and what a huge savings Settlement with United Settlement could provide I chose settlement. Then he explained that I was able to determine which of my credit accounts I wanted to settle and if there were any I wanted to continue paying I could. Another huge benefit to me is that I was able to choose between 3 different methods of payments (monthly, semimonthly or biweekly) and I was able to choose my payment dates. He explained exactly what is done with my payments and how my accounts would be settled. He was extremely knowledgeable and did not rush me at any time. By the time he explained every detail, I had completed the paperwork simultaneously. I was at a point before the call where I had no idea how I was going to be able to make this month's minimum payments. Now with the settlement I will be able to make the required payments and still have money to take care of my family and the remaining monthly bills. Johnathan really provided outstanding customer service and truly cared about me and my particular situation. He ensured I understood everything and how to reach him if I have additional questions or need to make any changes to my settlement or change a payment date...

My representative Joe was amazing. Speaking with him, I felt completely comfortable doing the program. It truly sounded like an amazing opportunity to get back on track. I'm giving 2 stars because although Joe was an amazing rep and could answer all the questions I had, once I got started, things went the complete opposite. He let me know that the first 3-6 months would be rocky due to calls from the the creditors. However, he assured me that within in the first 8-9 months I should see one of my creditors paid off. They did the complete opposite. The first creditor they got an agreement with was the creditor with the highest balance. Which will take over 2 years to pay off before going to the next creditor unless I can increase my payment amount. This leaves the other accounts that had a significantly lower balance sitting there when they could've been first to at least allow me to feel like I'm progressing and made the right decision. Currently, I don't see or feel...

I enjoyed my session with Paul. He was a very personable agent and we even enjoyed talking about his dogs and cats and my cat and desire to get a dog again when the fence in thr back yard is done. I want another Doberman or maybe German Shepherd so a stable fence is going to be important for keeping her in my yard.

The one thing I did notice from the Welcome package is that the first payment is to be drafted on Oct. 15, 2025 and Paul had said he would put the due date for the 21st because that would be the latest that my Social Security check would come in because it is due the third Wednesday of the month and that would be between the15th and the 21st of the month depending on the date of the first Wednesday. The contract had indicated the 21st for the draft and I couldn’t get ahold of Paul to see what had changed because it was the weekend and no one answered. I will call him tomorrow and go over...
