This review is not about the food. It is about the rude and unprofessional manager or owner. We arrived for 7:30 reservation and were given a table which was between the host stand and the kitchen door we knew immediately we did not want to sit there, it was very unpleasant, and the host tried to accommodate us, although we would have to wait for another table --suddenly the owner or Manager approached us with such an attitude and told us this was our table and we could leave if we didn't like it. The web pictures of this restaurant are not accurate. It is very small, but the way the tables are situated on the online photos it looks romantic. In actuality, the tables are all shoved next to each other --they clearly care more about money than having their customers be comfortable as we were discussing the situation 2 people left from the back and we asked if we could sit there and he said no, that table is reserved. Really???? We went to 83 1/2 which is also on the upper Eastside and we're treated kindly and respectfully and without a reservation were seated promptly in a very nice table -the food was excellent as always, and I highly recommend spending your money here with people who are kind...

We just got back from a delightful experience at L’Osteria. Especially for the local neighbors, the food was excellent. We had the spaghetti and meatballs, half chicken and the salmon dinners. All were cooked to perfection. You will love the tasty tenderness of the meatballs, fresh spaghetti and the rich taste of the tomato sauce. The chicken had an exquisite taste and aroma. And the salmon was so lightly and beautifully cooked that we wanted to ask for seconds. The owners told us they had only just opened four months ago. I think it is incumbent upon our community to support great restaurants like L’Osteria. Please try it. You will not be disappointed. Luciano and Kastro go out of their way to be customer friendly, offering helpful explanations and recommendations while providing outstanding service. And if eating inside is a little too close for comfort, they have a wonderful set up of enclosed tables outside. We are proud to be among the others who have rated this restaurant five stars. Thanks so much and please keep up the great culinary...

Excellent food, as always! However, their reservation system is very poor. I had made a reservation for 7:00 PM for two, IN PERSON, three days before going to the restaurant. The reservation was entered into the computer by the man at the desk. They even sent me a text to confirm the reservation, which I did. When I arrived at the restaurant tonight, Friday, I was told that I had to wait 45 minutes for the table inside. Every table was taken. I reminded them that I had made a reservation. They said I should have reserved one week before, which no one had told me when I made the reservation. The restaurant has an outdoor shed with tables. The maitre’d pointed to an available table in the shed. When my friend and I went to sit there, the table was taken by someone else. In addition, those in charge were rude and unprofessional. L’ Osteria, you must fix your reservation system! There are many restaurants with excellent food BUT with a good and welcoming reservation system. I shall consider those...

We meant to go to the Guggenheim, then tried the Met -but the summer guests to our city laid claim to the exhibits before we would be able to view them on Saturday. We had already eaten dinner, but we wanted a couple of drinks (read: rounds) to stay out. We came upon L’Osteria walking up Lexington and it was just the prescription for our disappointment. Andrew (“Wolf”) was a superb host to our two or three rounds, during which each member of the service staff made a point to greet us and make us feel welcome while we were sitting at the small bar. We didn’t end up pulling the trigger on Second Dinner with the Burrata or Meatballs, but we will be back- judging by the overly content smiles on the UES ladies faces dining behind us. What a great find. The lost art of hospitality, on a Saturday night nonetheless. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely food, this quaint Italian restaurant is located just South to 86th street. Starter- fried calamari with mixed veggies, breading was lightly coated, the addition of broccoli flowerets and butternut squash adds to the complexity of the dish. The aioli is lightly seasoned and doesn't overpower the natural flavor of the calamari. Main- Sausage Rigatoni Ragu: The ingredients are absolutely fresh. The meat for the sausage is lean, juicy and freshly grounded. Mushrooms give the perfect kick umami. Needless to say, the pasta was cooked 100% Al Dente. Friendly service from Orlando. Local frequents get priority indoor seating though.
