This is our neighborhood spot for bagels, my wife and family go there all the time. It's always terrible - the bagels are good NYC bagels, the staff are unorganized, rude, and slow. I've gone in and ordered a mini bagel untoasted with cream cheese and it takes 10 minutes while they give other people their stuff (same kind of stuff) faster and then rudely shrug you off when you ask whats up. Today I went in and asked for a bagel (didn't ask if I wanted it toasted) and when I said "I was sorry, I wanted it toasted" the dude picked it up and thrust it at me and said "I can't toast it now", then just tried to stare me down.
I've seen them get in arguments with people about bringing outside coffee (as if the gourmet place across the street doesn't have better than their truckstop carafes, and french vanilla cappuccino machines). I've seen them be rude to little old ladies for not speaking up, and kids for... existing.
The bagels ARE good, and sometimes if you get lucky the staff can be nice, but obviously, management has no reason to incentivize the positive. There's other places to get bagels, and most of them won't have a 15-minute line for bagels just because they can't figure out how a...
Read moreIt is not about the bagels but about the service. Was at the shop yesterday. 2 counter people stood at attention so far from the counter so that I had to basically shout my order. As I asked to have the coffee while waited for the order , they had both already turned on their heels and did not respond to my request. No problem. I asked this lady who stands by the cashier for a coffee , she looks like a prison matron if I ever saw one btw...she looks at me and kept doing whatever she was doing. No problem. Paid for my order, didn’t get a receipt. When I get home I see they added cheese to my bacon and egg sandwich when I didn’t ask for it . Called the store spoke with manager about all of the above. He simply said ‘we are trying very hard.’ I say We all are. I wonder if After being rude to my costumers and screwing up my work , If I could just say : ‘ I am trying very hard.’ And not lose my job.I don’t think so... It is sad that many business in park slope don’t train their workers with a ‘service with a smile’ attitude ‘ Has anyone else noticed this in...
Read moreI ordered one toasted bagel with nothing and one not roasted bagel with butter. He swapped the order and accidentally buttered the toasted bagel. He told me thats how I ordered it but I told him it wasn't. He then again insisted that's how I ordered it. I asked him to butter the untoasted bagel and then he told the woman at the register in spanishSti charge me more money. How rude. He messed up my order and then won't take blame for it and charged me more money assuming I don't speak spanish. I won't ever come here again. The bagels are a 6/10 at best I just come here because it's the closest Won't mind walking further for...
