Thank you to the entire team at La Tête d'Or for such a pleasant and memorable experience!
Ambience 😃: From the moment you walk into La Tête d'Or, it’s evident that the restaurant aims to transport you to an authentic Parisian steakhouse while retaining the cosmopolitan essence of its location in New York City’s Flatiron District. The décor is impeccable: a color palette of beige and red, accented with black and wooden details, creates a warm, elegant, and sophisticated space. Every corner is carefully designed to make you feel in an intimate atmosphere, ideal for a memorable dining experience.
Service 🥰: The level of customer service at La Tête d'Or is undoubtedly outstanding. From the very beginning, the staff demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, elevating the experience to fine dining standards. A remarkable example was how they noticed one of the diners was left-handed and adjusted the arrangement of dishes and drinks for their convenience. Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the staff was trained to speak multiple languages. In our case, they flawlessly attended us in both Spanish and English, a thoughtful touch that stands out in a restaurant of this caliber, especially considering the diverse international clientele it likely attracts.
Our waiter, Enrique, was exceptional: enthusiastic and knowledgeable, he explained the restaurant’s concept, highlighted signature dishes, and provided spot-on recommendations for the evening. Moreover, the sommelier added a masterful touch by suggesting the perfect wine to pair with our meal selections.
Food 😱: The culinary experience at La Tête d'Or was a true delight. Every dish exceeded expectations, starting with a beef tartare that achieved a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The lobster bisque, thoughtfully split into two portions for us to share, showcased the kitchen’s attention to detail. The porterhouse, served with creamed spinach and hazelnut gnocchi, was simply spectacular. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and highlighted the quality of the ingredients in every bite.
Desserts were another highlight. The tarts stood out for their balance between creaminess and acidity, offering a fresh and sophisticated experience. The chocolate cake, on the other hand, is a must-try: sweet without overwhelming the palate, with a light creaminess that enhances the intensity of the chocolate in every bite.
Finally 😌: La Tête d'Or understands the importance of an all-encompassing experience: ambience, service, and food work harmoniously to deliver an unforgettable evening. With exceptional customer service, exquisite culinary offerings, and an atmosphere that combines elegance and warmth, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking the best...
Read moreThe BEST STEAK and PRIME RIB we have ever had!
Chef Daniel Boulud, my family applauds you for innovation, atmosphere, elegance, steaks and food of the highest quality. Everything was cooked to perfection, embodying taste, texture and flavor making this meal fit for a king! We celebrated my wife’s birthday and everything was perfect. As I am writing this she is on the phone with friends making dates to return.
The waitstaff exceeded the highest standards of the finest dinning. Your GM Stephen Tsui has assembled a staff that takes hospitality to new levels. Everyone was so welcoming, highly trained and genuinely enjoyed what they do which made our dining an experience so special. All of these elements gave my wife’s Birthday a memory that will resonate for years. We booked here for our son’s birthday and will be coming back with friends soon.
The high ceilings, comfortable velvet seating, soothing colors, tables set to perfection, open kitchen, and beautiful bar, all combined to create an atmosphere that was relaxing, spacious, elegant, and modern yet warm. It was the perfect setting for the perfect meal.
Appetizers - Bone marrow with pastrami and sauerkraut, and onion soup so well balanced rated 10 plus. The Dry Aged Porterhouse was the best we ever had. The steak was so pure—taste, texture, flavor, quality, all the elements combining for the most memorable, perfect steak ever. The American Wagyu Rib-Eye Prime Rib had all the above qualities and was brought out on a silver trolly and hand cut before being garnished with delicious, smooth horseradish sauce. It came with a pop over, spinach and creamy pomme puree.
The sides of ravioli with comte cheese, creamed spinach, and maitake romesco, were all delicious and perfectly prepared and presented. Cocktails were delicious. Dessert was not only delicious, but fun—a sundae with soft ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauces, and a plethora of toppings to garnish as you please.
We have eaten at all the top rated steakhouses and your Porterhouse and Prime Rib exceed them all. I believe the Michelin star that used to be in Williamsburg is aligning with your place as the #1 steakhouse in NYC. Michelin must give you 3 STARS as you have checked all the boxes and the Steak, Prime Ribs, sides, dessert were...
Read moreWords can’t describe how devastatingly let down I was by my experience here. My fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner, and for what was the most expensive meal we’ve ever had together, by a couple hundred dollars, there were terrible blunders from start to finish. Firstly, there was a piece of food or something in the first glass of water they poured. Okay, not great, but it happens, even in the best restaurants. I wasn’t fazed, yet. But during the seafood course, my fiancé CHIPPED HIS TOOTH on a pebble or something of the like, because the shellfish wasn’t properly cleaned. Thankfully it was quite minor, but still a terrible experience to have at a restaurant of this caliber! The staff were apologetic, but didn’t offer anything complementary or the like. Which, of course isn’t required, but really? Not a free glass of wine or anything, for a chipped tooth? And the cherry on top was after the bill was paid, my fiancé noticed his credit card was missing. A server brought it to us a few minutes later—it had been dropped on the ground a good bit away from our table when the other server dropped off the receipt. I know this isn’t the standard experience at a restaurant this nice—we must have been incredibly unlucky, which sucks extra given it was a birthday celebration dinner. But truthfully, even without the hiccups we experienced, I thought the food was just fine to good. The prime rib was the best thing we had, but nothing genuinely blew my socks off…maybe that’s just how fine dining can be, but it’s disappointing nonetheless. Why is a meal we’ve paid hundreds of dollars for not even cracking the top 10 of meals ever bad? Obviously, taste is subjective, and it seems like plenty of people love the food here. But after such a dramatically bad experience with the service paired with an okay meal, I don’t ever see...
