We recently discovered this new Filipino cafĆ© while grabbing lunch next door at Filipiana. After a quick internet search, I found out that they had/have a location in Lucban, Philippines and just recently opened this location here in Queens last week. Currently, Sucre Verseās menu consists mainly of desserts and some sandwiches. I was told that they will soon expand their menu with more hot dishes.
I ordered a Galaxy Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake, Mango Brazo de Mercedes Cake, and a Tiramisu Cake. The desserts were all quite lovely looking but taste wise, all tended to be on the sweeter side which I think caters to the Filipino palate. The Red Velvet Cake was a tab bit dry partly due to the miniature size. I think when the cake is that small it does tend to dry out a bit. The Tiramisu was good but I wished it had stronger coffee flavor to offset the sweetness. The Galaxy Cheesecake had purple cake base with cheesecake top and blue coating (not sure the flavor). So very pretty to look and very sweet. The Brazo de Mercedes cake, I thought was the most interesting of the ones I ordered. It had the traditional soft meringue layers but with mango custard filling. It had a very soft and pillowy texture; I think I liked this one the most.
If you have a sweet tooth and are in the neighborhood, I say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen going to this bakery right after they just opened. Back then, they mostly had cupcakes, mango oatmeal bar, spanish bread, cheesecake, etc.
Now, they offer lasagna, spaghetti and few other food options aside from the sandwich they offered back then and also new desserts.
I am very inlove with my now favorite chocolate chip and oatmeal muffin and smores brownies. They were so good, I must say since Iāve had a lot of chocochip muffins and brownies all over NYC and Long Island. I know that taste is subjective but I am confident that many will agree that their desserts are really good!
But before I forget, the true gem of this lovely place, Marcial! He is very sweet and down to earth. He is very patient with questions and very accomodating. He shows confidence when asked about the food. He makes the place feel like home.
I had a good time and will definitely come back. I wish Marcial and his daughter the best with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a new Filipino cafe along Queens Blvd. They have a selection of cupcakes, Galaxy cakes, muffins, cookies, and Spanish bread in the front cases. All the items in the case are individual sized but it does look like they can make full sized goods if ordered in advance. They also have sandwiches to order. We tried the banana chocolate muffin and it was not too sweet. They have big chocolate chips on top not baked too far in, which is helpful as a mom cause I can control how much chocolate the little one will get lol There is indoor seating at tables with place settings but from what I saw it looks like everything can also be taken neatly to-go. Causal atmosphere and good for small groups. I also appreciate how on point they are with their...
