Leroy’s — Restaurant in New York

I’ve been here before and I had an amazing dining experience in the past. We are Greenpoint locals. My boyfriend and I decided to come back here again for our 3 year anniversary and our dining experience was terrible. The restaurant was empty except for the ppl at the bar having drinks. We were seated at a 2 seater table by the window. It’s summer time and it’s about 87° outside. The window seat was so hot. It felt like the heat was coming from the floor. There was another couple who came in after us and was seated next to us. We waited about 10-15 min before our drink order was taken but the waiter took the couple’s order next to us first. Which was very strange because they came in after us. The waiter then took our drink order and appetizer order. We were still deciding on our entree. Our drinks and appetizers came out but brought to us by a different person. The waiter did not check up on us once. He was on his cellphone, scrolling or texting most of time. When we were ready to place our entree order the waiter was standing in the corner looking down at his phone. He walked by us heading outside while still looking down at his phone. I had to knock on the window to get his attention. Which is super frustrating. We placed our food order and one of the cooks came out and switched out our water bottle for a colder one and he asked how is everything. We told him the food is very good. The food here is delicious but I’m so sad the service was so poor. I wanted another drink but the waiter never came by to check on us again so I wasn’t able to place another drink order and I was so frustrated that I didn’t even want it anymore. We waited another 15 min to get the waiter’s attention to close out. Again he was on his phone and not paying attention to us. We finally closed out without ordering dessert which I would’ve loved to get but after this experience it was pointless. I don’t think we will be...

Let me first start by saying the food is great a LeRoys however, if you have a child with you the service and experience you receive is subpar.

We’ve had appetizers/drinks outside with our son and the service was great. We’ve ordered take out and again they send nice messages and are great, however, we decided to stop in for a drink and appetizers right after they opened at 4 and were met with some less than nice customer service.

We sat at the bar with our son on our laps as to not take up dinner seats abs was told that they request people with children sit at a table. Then, after we had ordered our drinks at the bar we received them in seated at the table by less than a friendly server. Same went with our appetizer. We asked if they had a highchair which they didn’t (apparently it doesn’t fit with their vibe or their targeted customer).

We finished our drinks, paid and promptly left. I’ve never in Greenpoint felt so I welcomed. I know it was a Friday, but the place wasn’t that busy and the service was just uncomfortable. If LeRoys wants to cater to a younger single demographic that’s fine, but should express they upfront and should potentially realize they are in a family friendly neighborhood.

Again, they have amazing food, but was not pleased by the customer service. Maybe only takeout for those...

Normally I don’t leave a review ,giving it two instead of one because I really used to like this place . This is the second time Ive experienced just really rude service . I understand places tend to get busy , but now it’s just feeling offensive and purposeful . After I waited to patiently to be seat , the hostess or girl with blonde hair ignored me and went to greet a couple who came in after me . I interjected I was waiting first , then when I asked for a table - I was asked to just be ok with the bar . I then asked if there was room outside , first come first serve I guess she said find one? ( could be first come first serve the whole system seemed unorganized) . I sat patiently for about ten minutes the hostess who may have also been the server with the blonde hair said she would give me menus but never did . The other server with the darker hair walked passed me multiple times and the table was not even cleaned from the last customer . I used to come here so much and enjoy time/ staff , but I would suggest save your time go somewhere else .
