I will not be back, now that it's been made clear to me that hurting my skin is, to them, okay. Wow. After years of raving about HONEY and supporting their new Greenpoint location by going out of my way to visit that address, I am greatly disappointed and shocked. My eyeLIDS -- not brows -- are red and irritated, even now, 2 1/2 days later, after a brow wax. To add insult to injury, the salon manager told me everything was fine when I first expressed my concern, after the service had been completed. AND, when today, eyelids further red and irritated, I asked that the HONEY manager/ owner call me, I was told "He is very sorry about this. He said he is a little busy at the moment, so he will contact you next Monday morning." (direct quote from text message). Wait, what? Was my message actually forwarded to him/her?
WOW. If i didn't already feel gaslit by the wax tech and the store manager, given the owner/manager's "reply", i sure do now.
I visited HONEY 3 days ago for a brow wax. I've been to HONEY many times before, for services including a brow wax. I was always very happy w/ the service I received. Till this week. My upper eyeLIDS -- not brows -- are red and irritated, even now, 2 1/2 days later.
When i first realized that the wax was being applied to the area noticeably closer to my EYES, a distance from my brows and a place where wax has NEVER been applied, I expressed concern to the tech. She told me it was ok. I was not confident that she understood what I was saying, but what was iI supposed to do now that the hot wax was on my skin? Now i'm sure that either she didn't understand, or care, or both.
When she was done, my brows looked good, but I immediately saw that the skin under my brows was very red. I pointed this out to the manager, who also seemed to not understand, saying "No, it's fine!" There was no acknowledgement that the skin over both my eyes was red, which it was and continues to be. No acknowledgement of my concern. I felt totally gaslit.
In addition to getting TERRIBLE SERVICE, the customer service followup has been incredibly disappointing, to say the least. Wanting to give them another opportunity to provide even decent customer service, I took my concerns to the manager and when that went nowhere, to the owner, which also went nowhere (and was insulting) before writing this review.
Honey is a nice place to visit. Clean and bright. The staff smile and seem happy to see you. But none of that is remotely worth what I've experienced.
I will not be back, now that it's been made clear to me that hurting my skin is, to them, okay. I now understand that this incident, and my business means nothing to HONEY.
I've had hundreds of successful brow waxes before this shocking incident, an incident which seems to get worse the more time passes. At first, my skin was damaged and inflamed; now i have skin that is FURTHER damaged and inflamed, and on top of that I've been subjected to extremely poor customer service.
HONEY does some things right by creating a clean, bright atmosphere. Being careful with the skin around my eyes is definitely not one of the things they do right. Nor is listening to and addressing my concerns with basic customer service.
I await a full apology by the owner and a...
Read moreThis salon just opened & the owner Jessica might have an issue with people who look like me and expect proper quality service. I first had a pedicure here a couple of weeks ago and it was a lovely experience.
Today I went in for a manicure-and although my nail tech was very nice-she clearly did not have experience with this polish color. This was the result after two polish attempts. Two stars are for the polish job and Jessica who promptly got an attitude telling me that they do not clean cuticle lines with a brush but rather a stick or their finger nails. I told her whatever works so long as my cuticles and undernail are not flooded with white paint. After two attempts, this is what I left with (flooded cuticles and uneven paint with brush marks/holes) along with a large dose of attitude from Jessica the owner.
See photos- this quality polish may be why they asked me to pay before polish. Which did not happen the first time I visited.
They are very close to my apartment so I will try them one more time but keep in mind some of the techs are not experienced with all colors nor do they have good customer service if you express that you...
Read moreI actually enjoy coming to this salon, and this review isn’t a reflection of the technicians — they’ve always done a great job. My issue is with the inconsistency and lack of transparency at the front desk.
I’ve been coming here since they opened, usually for gel pedicures and gel-x removals, and until recently, I had no complaints. Gel-x removals were always $20. About three months ago, I was suddenly told it would be $30. When I asked why, I was told, “It’s $20 with another service — $30 if it’s just a removal.”
Fine. But the next time, I got both a pedicure and a removal and was still charged $30. Today, I was charged $40 for a gel-x removal.
This is frustrating, misleading, and inconsistent. In Greenpoint, the going rate for a gel-x removal is $20–$30. Even my nail artist in Brooklyn, who works with influencers and celebrities, charges $25.
I feel misled and overcharged. The salon really needs to clarify and standardize...
