I was just about to book another team event at Live Axe when I remembered a small experience from our last visit that I thought might be worth sharing.

After our reservation ended and we were getting ready to leave, one of the axe instructors — an average-height, slim-built individual whose name started with Trevor — approached one of my colleagues. The instructor asked, somewhat hesitantly, if he had done something wrong. My colleague, surprised, reassured him that everything was fine. The instructor then followed up by asking why we hadn’t left him a tip.

The situation caught us a little off guard. My colleague, feeling a bit uncomfortable, explained that he had assumed tips were included with the reservation and tipped him and tipped him. The instructor clarified that the tip for food and drinks goes to the servers. On our way out, we checked with the front desk host, who confirmed that the instructor’s gratuity was included in the prepaid package.

Since it was a small matter, we didn’t feel it necessary to make a fuss and simply left it at that.

That said, I do want to emphasize that we’ve had many wonderful experiences at Live Axe in the past — it’s become our go-to venue for team outings, and we’ve always had a fantastic time. I truly believe this was just an isolated incident with a new instructor we hadn’t...

We had an amazing time here. We were greeted at the door and shown down stairs to a very cool bar/lounge area for a pre-throw drink.

When it was time to go Trevor brought us to our lane and did a really great job explaining the rules/safety. Used the right amount of humor but was also able to instill how dangerous the activity could be.

When it was time to throw, one of us was a natural (not me) and got a bullseye on the first throw, I struggled to get the axe to stink. Trevor gave me some great pointers and moved me to one arm throws and from there, with his advice it was game over for my partner.

Once we had the hang of it, Trevor started us on some fun games to test our skills and make sure I wasn’t fluking my shots.

The bar had a great selection of fraught beer, spirits and cocktails. We didn’t try any of the food but based on our experience, no doubt they knocked that out of the park too!

All in all it was a fantastic experience for being welcomed at the door, the bartender who let us sample a few of the draft beers, and we f course Trevor (ask him about Jerry). I definitely will be coming back again, with a bigger group next time.

Disclaimer: I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting old but my lead hamstring is was tight af after so maybe do a quick sretfh before...

If I could give negative stars I would. My family and I came here to celebrate a graduation.

Let me just start with saying the staff was amazing. The instructors were very helpful and the bartenders/servers had excellent customer service.

My problem was with either the manager or owner (his specific role remains unclear)

He attempted to include my family event in purpose of promotion for the venue. When I noticed this I addressed it by politely declining to be in any pictures, and asking that he uses someone else

Instead of being understanding or attempting to de-escalate the situation he gaslit my family and lied about our presence being captured in the photo. (It was obvious that he was standing behind us, simulating that he was cheering us on with his arms waving and pelvic thrusting for said photos)

The altercation got so heated that several bar staff came to pull him away from our reserved space.

It wasn't until I apologized to said staff for the commotion that I was informed he was the owner/ manager of this venue which further frustrated my party.

I'm not saying we did not enjoy our time otherwise, but his blatant disrespect and disregard for his consumers will forever overshadow efforts of his hardworking and...
