My husband and I can't get enough of this place! We have been to the restaurant and have also ordered takeout a few times - we have not had any other takeout since discovering LuAnnes! We have tried the Malaysian Curry stew, satay tempeh and also the crispy soy protein. The curry is awesome - the soy is sliced thin and has a nice texture and taste, the veg is very fresh - overall it feels like a very clean healthy dish, not oily or too heavy. The tempeh is great also - whatever way they have marinaded it genuinely makes it the best tempeh I have had! The crispy soy protein is lightly breaded and fried, however again it's more like a light fry rather than super greasy. Nice dipping sauces to accompany this dish. If you visit the restaurant it's a lovely experience also, friendly staff, nice ambiance. Delivery is generally super quick and the food has always arrived hot. 5 stars all around, reasonably...
Read moreThis is the first time at this location for me. The food, as usual, exceptionally good. If you aren't sure what to order, you should get the Yaki noodles. I don't usually even get noodles, but this is exceptionally good. The pad thai is also good, but a little spicy and the Thai iced tea and the mint lemonade are wonderful.. The atmosphere, and music, we're all so wonderful as usual. The service, was not so good. When we sat down, we waited a long time for them to take our order. And the woman server actually took the people's order who came in after us first. That is a big No-No and a really quick way to piss off a guest. I asked for another drink, and after 10 minutes still hadn't gotten until I asked again for it. My daughter thought they were a bit condescending too. However, in their defense, they did get the order correct. Not enough to keep us from coming back. This place...
Read moreLuAnne’s Wild Ginger is a solid spot for Brooklyn vegan dining. I was hesitant about their pan-Asian menu but the first visit quickly dispelled that, so much so that I went a second time on the same trip. This was a time before I lived in Brooklyn and now that I do I’ve gone back to LuAnne’s several times.
The seared miso eggplant topped with hijiki mushrooms is a fav. This is the only place I’ve seen this served and it’s a must dish. Would also recommend the black pepper seitan served on a bed of bok choy, a staple on Chinese menus. This vegan version is tasty.
Luanne’s has several locations in Brooklyn and in the city. This loc is probably my favorite because the other Leeuwen, Van Leeuwen to be exact, is just a couple blocks down the street for...
