I recently visited Mala Town with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, our experience was quite uncomfortable. From the moment we sat down, our server was behaving inappropriately and made the entire meal awkward. He was overly touchy, leaning in too close, and making comments that came off as weird and inappropriate towards my girlfriend.
We both felt uncomfortable throughout the meal, and it completely ruined what should have been a nice night out. I understand that servers try to be friendly, but this was way over the line. Respecting customers' personal space is basic etiquette, and this experience left us feeling uneasy.
It's a shame because the food was decent, but the unprofessional behavior from the server overshadowed everything else. We won’t be returning, and I hope the management addresses this kind of behavior to ensure other customers don't have the same...
Read moreWords of caution: if you are not into spicy food like me, this is not a place for you. Guess what, my wife does and here we were with two of our kids in tow. Staff was very accommodating, and she gave our kids a plate of fried sweet potato balls on the house. BTW, did I mention my kids couldn’t stomach the hot and spicy food as well. Anyway, as good as a model husband that I was, I was there just for a little bite after work. 麻辣烫, which translates into “tongue-tingling, spicy pot” that was filled with skewers of meats, shrimps, tofu and veg was pretty good. Overall, my kids and I was enjoying hanging out with their mom, which was needless to say happy to be there...

Secondly, the staff are not welcoming and honestly quite rude. The waitress rushed us to order food so she could take another table’s order. Additionally, she did not speak any English (which is ok as long as they make the effort to communicate with us, however she did not do so) and gave us a look when we tried ordering stuff in English. So, if you don’t speak any Chinese, do not come here. Overall, 8av has better and more welcoming food options out there. I will say that the student discount and free appetizer were nice, but not nearly enough to make me...
