I am from the Caribbean. I came here excited to try Ghanan food. The menu: There are no prices listed in the establishment or a proper menu. Just a piece of paper taped to the wall with tiny pictures and names of the dish. You have to be familiar with the menu to choose something. We asked the lady who was attending to us for any suggestions and she was not very helpful.
The food: We decided to go with the Jollof rice and Ockra stew. I was thoroughly disappointed. The jollof was cloying, heavily seasoned with MSG and the two fried chicken legs we got were dry and flavorless. My friend ordered the okra stew, it was inedible...the okra were over fit and tough. They could not be chewed. The same goes for the goat meat included. Overall the food had no flavor. This is a first where we were just unable to eat the food.
The price: For the type of food we received, the food is regarded as over priced. I would say robbery. The jollof was $17 and the okra stew was $22. I am not sure if these are standard prices or if we were overcharged because we were obviously naive about the food.
Customer service: Almost non existent.
Overall: I would never recommend someone to waste their money on this food. This was a poor first time experience at African food. Surprised this place received 4.3 stars, they are either fake reviews or these are peiple.who knows little about good...
Read moreThis Ghana restaurant have the most tasteless, dirty and expired dishes and the worst of all African restaurants in USA and the reason for this is because of very poor customer service and uncivilized attitudes are the cause of losing customers on daily basis and a lot of things in the shop need to be remove and replace with new ones but no money. Please save your money and go to other African restaurants and enjoy your money. This place is a place to waste Money and time. they behave like they haven't seen money before. All the reviews before mine that you read here about mama g restaurant for 5 stars is 100% fake and I was here to confirm the good reviews but honestly this is opposite and a plate of food cost 19 dollars at least, very expensive but in their MENU is 15 dollars to attract customers but you can't fool people all the time so inside this restaurant, they need a lot changes especially customers service and to be honest in their business so this is what I got 😡💔. they don't accept debit or credit cards...
Read moreThis was my first experience trying African food with my husband, we are Hispanic, wanted to step out of our comfort zone. So we had fufu and soup with spinach, greeted by this young lady who was so full of love and life. We told her that we had never tried African food and she went on a taste test with me one soup after the other. Her patience was so appreciated! We purchased my food, and went on to eat. The food for our first time was AMAZING! the spice was just right amount of heat, fish was cooked to perfection and fufu tasted great. I’m a texture kind of girl so the fufu really wasn’t my texture type and I told the young lady exactly that. amazing amazing customer service! the food was great!!the fact that she was so lovely and understanding. You don’t see that much anymore ! I give this place 5 stars because of how good the food was but the lovely vibes it...
