Good baked goods but home to consistently awful customer service. I've been here a few times to enjoy a napoleon or to buy cake but my latest experience has turned me off visiting here again.
I came here with my partner recently to get a cake for a relative and were met with prompt unhelpful service. When asking between 7 inch cakes and 8 inch cakes we were presented with the option of the Strawberry shortcake in 8 inches, but thinking it'd be good to save some money we asked if they had a 7 inch in black forest. They said they would check and didn't come back to confirm with us. When discussing it, we decided to have more would be better anyways so we went back and made a request to exchange the 7-inch black forest for an 8-inch strawberry shortcake.
Now we thought that we didn't need to do anything and trusted the employees to do their thing and prepare the writing on the cake. Unfortunately to our surprise they came back to us with an 8-inch black forest cake. We were surprised at this and said that we requested a strawberry shortcake and asked if we could get the original cake we asked for. The employee said that they could help us but it might cost us extra. Okay. We're willing to front the cost if we get the proper cake, they just need to check with the manager.
Before the manager arrived another worker (not the one who was helping us with the cake) felt prompted to shout at us that we ordered a black forest cake. Now at this point we were nothing but patient, we weren't trying to make a scene or cause beef. We tried to explain what happened and our side but when the manager came she also said that we were at fault right out of the gate instead of trying to come to an understanding with us.
At this point, we understood, we get it, you don't value the individual customer, you already get enough business online. But the blatant disregard made us just quit the fight. It's not worth coming back to this place where we are treated as expendable. Would rate a 0 if I could, you've exhausted any goodwill...
Read moreOn a chilly Queens night, we ventured into this coffee haven, guided by local recommendations. The deserted streets led us to a warmly bustling spot, a haven from the icy outdoors. After a brief wait, we found our seats and immersed ourselves in the lively atmosphere. The crowd's vibrancy peaked as the night progressed, creating a dynamic backdrop to our experience.
However, a peculiar incident unfolded when a friend sought to purchase a few delectable cakes for home. The counter attendant, strangely insistent, insisted orders must come through the waitress for seated patrons only. This rigid policy left us bewildered and disappointed, as it meant unnecessary additional costs for table service when we simply wished to take the cakes home.
Despite this odd encounter, the waitstaff provided impeccable service, and the dishes, though not world-class, boasted commendable quality. The coffee, too, met our expectations. Yet, the refusal to accommodate a straightforward request left a sour note.
The denial of our desire to purchase cakes for takeaway felt like a bitter aftertaste, leaving a lasting impression. This inflexible stance resulted in us forgoing the purchase and contemplating the prospect of future visits. If a business proves rigid in meeting straightforward needs, we question the value of our patronage. Our intention was to enjoy a pleasant evening and perhaps become regular patrons, but this incident gives us pause. We believe our money should be met with a willingness to accommodate reasonable requests, and unfortunately, this experience has left us reevaluating the prospect of returning.
If you found this review helpful, kindly give it a thumbs up to assist fellow patrons in making informed decisions. Here's to shared experiences and genuine...
Read moreMe and my family love Marhta's strawberry cake. Yesterday I went there around 2 pm to purchase strawberry cake. Because of the upcoming Mother's Day, they put different shapes and decorated cakes including the regular ones. I went to the Forest Hill's store. Yesterday's customer service was way far than my previous days. When I was trying to talk with them they started spinning in a circle and dodging their gaze and started talking with each other or doing something else from me to just avoid not attending to me! After waiting by myself one showed up and asked what I want for. I told her that I wanted a large strawberry cake, and in response, she told me and from the display showed me that the large one was in the bottom in a heart shape. I chose one and asked her whether it was strawberry or not. I was a little confused with the appearance as it did not look regular. (For upcoming Mother's Day they included different options than the regular looks). So, to make sure I pointed to the spare piece of strawberry cake to her. After getting the confirmation, I purchased my desired strawberry cake for my little one as it was her Birthday in the next day. It took $63 which was fine until I found out it turns out that it was a cheesecake. None of us in my family like cheesecake. Because of giving wrong information, I waste my time, money, my joy. My kid got upset as she did not like her birthday cake. I am feeling so upset and distress that, the price was so big for me and we even did not enjoy it. Please do not do this to other person. Please be serious, and take your job by heart. If you are not doing than please mind it that if have no right to play with...
