Love love love this place. First off, the brand new P.A.C. center is absolutely gorgeous. The decor is exquisite, both inside and outside of the building. The restaurant, Metropolis itself, has a very modern rustic vibe. It's like the 70s, and today's modern design had a baby, and that baby is Metropolis.
As beautiful as the decor is. The food is delectable art. Chef Ed Tinoco and Chef Marcus Samuelson have truly put together a masterful menu that is certainly to any palate.
Another big shout out to the entire beverage team. Their wine list is extremely sophisticated and worldly. Some incredible selections at perfect price points from all over the world! More countries are represented than I have seen on a list in a long time. Their cocktail list is uniquely special, and you can tell how hand crafted the beverages have been created. They even have an insane non-alcoholic specialty drink list for those who still want to try something new.
As for food, I wish I could try the entire menu. My guest had the Montauk Fluke Crudo, which was stunning to look at as they truly enjoyed it. I myself had the Smoked Hamachi Taco, which was out of this world. (See video) The house made belini-tacos infused with basil oil were the perfect vessels for the Hamachi. It perfectly wrapped the fish as I made my taco table side. Truly creates a perfect bite. Sweet, salty, crunchy, savory, and Umami. BRAVO!!!
For entrée, my guest had the Arctic Char with an uni beurre blanc, and I couldn't decide because I wanted EVERYTHING.... I closed my eyes and blindly pointed to the duck. My guest was overjoyed with the luxuriously delicate flavors of the sea. I mean... come on, people... what's not to love when an UNI BEURRE BLANC is involved. When my dish arrived, I took a second to appreciate the time spent perfecting this dish. The duck was exquisitely cooked. The knife cut through it like butter as the perfectly crispy skin cracked within each succulent bite. I haven't even gotten into the Molé, or even the side of duck confit!!! Take me to flavor town! And if you thought that was it, think again, because this dish wouldn't be complete in its decadence without a nice piece of foie Gras..... and game over! Please send me home with a side of that molé sauce so I can bathe in it! A Homerun of a dish in my book.
For dessert, my guest and I shared their bacon caramel flan....
Yes....
That's right.
A Bacon caramel Flan!
Do I even need to explain any more??? Go to Metropolis NOW and try it for...

Booked a reservation for two for my significant other’s birthday. My partner and I try to out-do each other every year with amazing dining experiences but thanks to Metropolis by Marcus, I think I have him beat for at least the next few.
Menu: -Concise number of menu options that all work together. We ordered the Steak and Eggs (which our amazing server, Ira, described as a take on a traditional Ethiopian dish), the Cornbread, the Sugar Hill Nights (the juiciest fried chicken I’ve ever had outside my mother’s kitchen), and the M Steak. Every dish was not only delicious but also intriguing as there were various tastes, textures, colors, and fragrances all beautifully plated.
Ambiance: -Walking up the staircase to enter the restaurant, we felt as though we were a part of the city yet entering a specially curated experience. The security staff were thorough and friendly. -A live music performance by a lovely songstress (apologies I did not get her name but she performed 05/02/25) began around 5:30PM. She sang one of my favorite songs, Allen Stone’s Give You Blue, and I was sold!
Hospitality: -Our main server Nelly was absolutely excellent. She communicated effectively, inquired about allergies, checked in, and even made sure we left on time to travel from the restaurant to our Broadway play on time. -Ira who I mentioned earlier was kind and very informative about the menu’s intention and design. -Isaiah politely stopped us on our way out to invite us to return soon on a Thursday-Saturday evening and enjoy once again. -There was a gentleman at the entrance who confirmed our reservation and escorted us to our table who was very kind and made us feel welcomed!
Absolutely recommend, run—don’t walk! See attached photos if...
Read moreI have never been to a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant that I did not enjoy. Metropolis truly exceeded expectations. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the exceptional service, set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Our server was Cameron and we ordered the short ribs, snapper, potatoes, deconstructed apple pie, oysters, peekytoe crab and shared the Flying Fish cocktail. Every dish, from the tender short ribs to the fresh oysters, was a culinary delight - bursting with flavor and seasoned perfectly. The short rib and the oysters were a particular standout. Going forward I must have a lemongrass sauce for my oysters. What truly made this night extraordinary was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. When I realized I had lost a sentimental ring, their immediate concern and willingness to help was incredibly heartwarming.
Right after we ordered, I realized that I lost my ring - not my actual wedding ring but a ring my husband gifted to me on our wedding day. I was feeling very sad about it but decided to try and enjoy myself. The staff looked around and said they would keep an eye out for it. As we were leaving the building I asked the security team if anyone had found a ring. Christian checked the lost and found and to my surprise it was there! [Backstory] my husband lost the bracelet I gave him on our wedding day and found it the same day. Right before Christian returned with my ring I said “well maybe I will find my ring since you found your bracelet.” It was the cherry on top of such a wonderful night. I will never forget and will definitely come back to Metropolis again.
PS. Forgot to mention there was live music right outside the restaurant in...
