A modest proposal:
I really like the coffee at Mighty Oak and I like the interior as well. However, I wish that the young people who use it as a work from home office would be willing to share their table. Instead, the norm is to take the seat on the bench side against the wall, put your bag or jacket on the seat opposite, and then get lost in your laptop. So once again, when I arrived today with a friend, we ended up going elsewhere because we wanted to sit with our coffee and, this may shock most of the patrons, have a conversation with each other. The last time I met my friend here, while I was waiting for him to arrive, I was waiting to get a seat and it looked like all the tables were taken. However, I did notice a couple who was sitting opposite each other had moved one of the tables next to theirs, and had put their jackets and also some food they had ordered on the table next to them. When I politely asked if these seats were taken, the man said, “ yes, we have our stuff here.” I replied that I would like to use the table. He said why don’t you take one of the other seats and ask someone else to move their stuff? I said I was expecting a friend and we needed a table for two. He reluctantly moved his stuff. My suggestion to management is that they put signs on the tables to ask people to share the space. There is no reason why two people immersed in their private world with their laptops can’t sit opposite each other (Heaven forbid they speak to each other!) It would allow for more people to have seats and also be good for business. I remember being in Italy a decade ago, and there was a sign in a café that said, “No internet. Talk to each other!” I’m not saying, get rid of the Internet, but, people, please be more neighborly and...
Read moreI want to give this place 5 stars and I will tell you why. But first I would like to describe the atmosphere. Came here on a cold fall day around 3pm. I have passed by before and noted that I needed to check this place out. The name of the shop 'Mighty Oak' intrigued me. I like how the shop looks from the outside. Earthtones, corner door. Very welcoming. I go inside and feel the vibe. Very quiet. Very studious. Very chill. Kinda bohemian. Like everyone has their head down in a book or on their phone why music plays in the background. The order: Latte (Hot) 2% no sugar as always. Taste: I like the rich taste of the espresso beans. The temperature is on point. Not too hot, not too warm.
So I like everything about this place. Down to the stickers and the choice of complimentary sparkling water or fresh. I could see myself sitting here next time with the book and a cold brew perhaps. Looks enticing in the jugs on the counter. Alas, there was no seats so I left. Even the bench outside had people. 5 stars for the Atmosphere/ vibe, and the...
Read moreThe male barista working on Monday afternoon, 8/25/2025 was extremely disrespectful. I ordered two coffees, yet only one was made and I had to return to the counter to confirm for the second. When the first drink was finished, the barista simply shouted “cappuccino” across the café rather than handing it to me directly despite me being close by. As I was leaving, he remarked “Sir, your cups..” to which I jokingly replied that since I had already paid, picked up my own drink, and left a tip, something should be on the house. His response—“It’s common courtesy to pick up after yourself, nobody asked you to tip me”—was unprofessional, dismissive, and inappropriate. Did he want me to clean the table too and do his job for him? This conduct reflects a lack of basic courtesy and professionalism, and I urge management to address...
