I recently had the pleasure of visiting Athena and Under Pressure, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience that went far beyond my expectations of a typical supermarket.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the enticing aroma of the fresh bakery and the vibrant colors of greek produce. The layout of the supermarket is well-organized, making it easy to navigate through the aisles filled with a wide array of authentic Greek ingredients, from feta cheese and olives to honey and herbs.
What truly sets Athena apart, however, is the charming coffee shop located within the supermarket. The moment I stepped into the coffee shop, I was enveloped by the rich scent of freshly brewed Greek coffee. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating and a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you want to linger and relax (which is what I did for 2 hours)
The coffee shop offers an impressive selection of beverages, from traditional Greek coffee to more contemporary options like cappuccinos and lattes.
I decided to try the classic Greek frappĂ©, and it was, without a doubt, one of the best Iâve ever had. The baristas are skilled and passionate about their craft, and supperrrrrr friendly!! đ Alongside the delicious coffee, thereâs a tempting array of pastries and sweets, but my favorite was the spanakopita! which was chefs kiss đ
Overall, my experience at Athena was nothing short of delightful. Honestly this supermarket has it all. The combination of excellent products, friendly staff, and a wonderful coffee shop makes Athena / under pressure a must-visit destination.
Iâll definitely be returning soon and highly recommend it to anyone in...
Read moreI was okay with this place at first. The place looked nice and the cashier was super friendly. She handed me a basket so I wouldnât have to hold my stuff. Thatâs about it. Some of their dips were mislabeled. I bought a tzatziki and a skordalia. The tzatziki tasted like Cedars tzatziki or one of the watery American ones. The cucumber is thick and the yogurt is runny. The skordalia was my favorite⊠until the second day I went to take a spoonful and hanging from my mouth was a long dark gray hair. Nope. Chucked that right into the bin. I went to order some things at the cheese and olive counter and in Greek the lady tells me âthe person who works it isnât here yet. Theyâre late so I guess Iâll do it.â Okay. Sorry for bothering you? Anyway. The olive choices are limited. I bought a pitted mix and they are okay. They taste a bit off compared to other place but they are okay. I got a halloumi because the feta didnât look inviting to try or purchase. Their freezer selection is limited compared to other shops and so are their shelves. A lot of their shelf items were overly priced. An Amita should not be $5.99. I paid $74 and some change and a quarter of the items I bought ended up in the bin. They have a bunch of skin care items too which I didnât care for. This place is more of a food âboutiqueâ than an actual marketplace. Check expirations dates and look...
Read moreI am so happy this place exists. Finally a proper market that it looks and feels modern (Bonus the name of my Home town đ). The way it should be in 2024. Stuff is amazing, clean, helpful and they know how to make you feel welcome. I drove all the way down from CT because I was hoping to find some new Greek items and especially Greek pita made in Greece (not the fake Kontos etc made in the USA that they call pita). I found real Greek pita and that would be enough for me to be happy but in my surprise this place is full of great products from small family producers from all over Greece. The selection is amazing even for a market of this type that you will find anywhere if you travel to Greece. I am a Chef and I was tired packing my luggageâs every time I go to Greece with stuff I canât find here. 80% of the stuff I was buying from Greece I can buy them in this Market now.
The nice lady on the counter packed all my stuff for 3 separate families properly and she was so kind to offer me also a bag of chips and a nice Greek lemonade for my trip back to CT. Greek hospitality & proper service...
