Absolutely blown away by the unique flavors at MIMISA. I knew about MIMISA because of the viral green grapes and fried chicken combo... but it's not what I came for. I came to see how I could eat Korean Fried Chicken differently from my typical soy garlic order. Lol. I was not disappointed!
Before I get into everything, I did try the green grapes and chicken duo. There was a balance of sweet and sour and I can see why it's a big deal. Basically it was good but it wasn't what got me hype. What got me hype was that HONEY BUTTER fried chicken. What an experience... it's sweet, crispy, and makes you do a little dance. The next thing that got me excited was the blueberry cream cheese topping for the fried chicken. Not going to lie, I was scared that it wasn't going to work. Nah bro. It worked. It worked REALLY WELL. The chicken itself is seasoned so nicely that when you add on cream cheese and the blueberry, it doesn't take away from its flavor. If anything, the cream cheese and blueberry add a nice texture to your bite so that you're not just eating something crunchy... and of course, the blueberry adds a tartness to it. It's just magical. Definitely take a risk and explore these unique flavors.
The fish cake... never had it until I had it at MIMISA. Rickey, the owner, explained to me that this is how they served fish cakes in wars; this is a delicacy and an iconic street food that you'd find in Korea. It was served with broth in a cup as well. Yeah... I can see why it's something that people love. For one, it's really good. Two, it's comforting... the warmth from the broth and the feeling it gives you inside when you take a bite. Just a chef's kiss! The tteokbokki is sooo cheesy and you're spoiled by how much you get. Another comforting dish. If you're looking for more food to get on top of Joe's steam rice rolls, but you don't want chicken, definitely get those two from here.
I also want to give a shout-out to Rickey... he's a mastermind when it comes to combining flavors and giving people a Korean street food experience in Flushing. He's super sweet and ensures all his customers are happy.
Overall, a soollliidddd food stall that one must add to their Flushing Food Crawl list. It's located inside of Landmark Quest Mall (across from Joe's steam rolls). It also gets really busy so plan...
Read moreMimisa has taken all over social media -- they step up the fried chicken game in NYC, taking an unconventional approach by their mind-blowing flavor combo. Yes, you can pair fried chicken with green grapes, blueberry cream cheese, or matcha cream cheese. Ricky, the owner, is super friendly and enthusiastic.
*Corn Cheese Fried Chicken $15.50 * As a corn lover, I’ve been eyeing their corn cheese fried chicken and of course it lived up to my expectation. It was generously covered with corn cheese. I could wrap every piece of chicken with a thick layer of corn cheese.
*Strawberry Cheese Fried Chicken $15.50 The strawberry cream cheese reduced the heaviness of fried chicken. I enjoyed the natural sweetness from the sliced strawberries. This is an interesting mix of sweet and savory that can only be found at Mimisa. My favorite is still the green grape fried chicken though.
*Green Grape Fried Chicken $14.50 * I'm sure Mimisa will lead the fruity fried chicken trend. I was skeptical about eating fried chicken with green grapes, but I was completely wrong. You MUST TRY this finger-licking delicious combo. The sweetness from the green grape sauce balances out the greasiness of fried chicken, and creates an interesting array of sweet and savory flavors.
*Cheese and Herb Fried Chicken $15.50 We got another bestselling flavor, and we were once again blown away by the cheesy sauce. Perfectly crisped boneless chicken and tender meat.
*Cream Pasta $14.99 ** Don’t sleep on their cream pasta. It was simple but 100% slurp-worthy. The pasta was served steaming hot, perfect for the weather. The shrimp was big and bouncy, while the noodles were creamy and cheesy
*Dukbokki w. Egg, Cheese & Fish Cake Loaded up our dukbokki with cheese, fish cakes and egg The bowl is served piping hot, and the dukbokki has the perfect chewiness It is not spicy, so don't worry if you can't handle spice!
*Fish Cake The soup of the fish cake is a surprise hit -- it has a hint of dashi flavor and the radish fully absorbs the...
Read moreMimisa is very popular for their Korean fried chicken; originated in Korea🇰🇷. When you go inside this little food court it will be on your right hand side. Although it is a small area, it is still a very warm place to be. The staff is very sincere and provided excellent service to us✨. The price of the food is fair and affordable💵. You do not have to wait long, the food is served to you at a fair pace.
We have tried 2 of their new fried chicken that just been out recently. Their Blueberry Cream Cheese Chicken🍗 have a very creamy, milky taste to it. The taste of cheese is not very strong and you do not taste the blueberry at all, but there is actually blueberry inside if you like blueberry🫐. This is my favorite fried chicken out of all the other fried chicken. The other one we have tried is Cheese🧀 and Herb Flavor Chicken🍗. For this fried chicken you will taste more cheese in it. Personally I feel like there’s a little pizza taste to it, but to other people there might not be a pizza taste. If you like cheese I would recommend this fried chicken because the cheese taste is really there. Other than their fried chicken, we also tried Bibimbap🍚 with chicken and Dubboki with fish cake. The Dubboki is not very spicy compared to any other dubboki I have taste, but the flavor is sweet with a little bit of spice inside. Bibimbab taste original just like the ones in Korea.
According to the manager of this store for M4, M5, M6, M7, M10 fried chicken; if you don’t like the sauce together with the fried chicken it can be separated with extra charge. For a small cup sauce it is $3 and for a large cup it will be $5. I would recommend the fried chicken to just come with the sauce because most of their fried chicken is amazingly delicious. Definitely a place worth coming for a afternoon lunch or snack.
