Once Noodles on 28 closed we looked elsewhere for a good Chinese restaurant in Murray Hill and chose New Moon. Up until tonight it has been adequate but tonight was a total failure. Egg rolls were tough and cold and the fried dumpling dough so thick that you couldn’t’t discern if there was any filling. But the sesame chicken was the topper. So old and either recooked or overcooked the chicken made shoe leather seem appetizing. The vile broccoli was olive green. Absolutely revolting. We had to throw it out.
UPDATE After extending a credit for the sesame chicken we decided to try New Moon one last time. The difference was like night and day. The chicken was cooked perfectly, although the scallion pancakes were not as expected…deep fried and greasy. Based upon this second experience we may order from New Moon again.
SECOND UPDATE That’s it. Done. Ordered tonight for the last time. Ordered hot and sour soup and received egg drop soup instead. Sesame chicken was overdone with vile soggy broccoli. Stay away...
Read moreActually THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. I call them to just make sure of the pick up time for my Grub Hub order and she's trying to be so quick on the phone, not actually listening to me. She proceeds to tell me that their online orders are not working and makes me give the order over the phone (Which was fine) I give the card information as well and everything is set to go. Then I call grub Hub to cancel the other order that WENT through to them because I did not want to be charged twice. THEN I call the restaurant 20 minutes later just to make sure my order is ready to go and she says you cancelled. Im infuriated at this point because she was so rude on the phone the first time. THEN she goes the card machines is not working. RIDICULOUS! Over an hour of waiting and they were not even going to tell me that the card machine was not working. SO at 1:00pm I would NOT have gotten my order and the lady did not...
Read moreNot your average local Chinese spot. And by that, I mean the food is GOOD. But first.. I came here for lunch on a weekday, the table seating situation is comfortably spacious. I tried the chicken and eggplant with brown rice (under the lunch special section). It comes with 3 soups of your choice. Gotta go with the wontons. As for food, you can actually taste and feel the good quality of the chicken. The eggplant was fresh. The sauce that it was served with was not overpowering. It had just the right amount of seasoning and thickness that you can find in many higher end Chinese restaurants. Now the wontons were soft and was served with some bok choy veggies. The lunch special cost like 8 dollars. And for the quality/amount of food you get, I'd say it's pretty worth. Overall, although the store front appearances of New Moon may not look as exciting, it offers a taste of a Chinese cuisine that you will find in a higher...
