The matcha is very good here- not the best but definitely worth mentioning. The desserts are a bit too sweet in my opinion but not bad. My negative experience was due to the workers. I saw they had various icecream flavors, but didn’t know how to pronounce them/what they were. When I asked the cashier, she kept going back and forth with me and getting loud. I assume she didn’t understand my question so I brushed it off and got one anyways. Then, when I paid she didn’t hand my receipt to me but to my partner. It bothered me but then again it was just a receipt. After that, she calls us up and hands us a matcha cheesecake when I asked for a yuzu one. Now if she handed me the receipt immediately I could’ve checked it right away. It wasn’t till after she gave us the wrong cake did I check it (had to get my icecream myself so got distracted). I was debating on asking for the right one but didn’t want to cause further problems. I’m disappointed as the matcha is good here, but won’t be coming back because it doesn’t seem like a welcoming...

I went here on a Tuesday afternoon after a long day, I wanted to refresh on some iced matcha and remembered that there was a place I was dying to try out their matcha for a while now so I headed here.

Honestly speaking my expectations weren’t met, I heard so much about Nippon and I was fairly surprised when the matcha I got wasn’t what was being advertised with the reviews I got. I’m not sure was it just that one time I went and they just messed my order up, or if I ordered something that wasn’t good, but I was surprised by their matcha game level.

I did order their specialty being the Kuro Mitsu Matcha, honestly it was a very weird flavor to start with not exactly what I was expecting from the matcha; if I’m being completely honest it didn’t even taste like matcha in my opinion. Idk it might be that it was too sweet for me; I’m pretty sure that it was just that one time that they made my order because all the other reviews I’ve seen on this store depict...

You know how many people say Japanese service providers provide one of the most astute, welcoming and friendly service ever? My experience here with Angel, one of the owners of Nippon Cha, embodied what exemplary service truly looks like. Not only was he friendly and kind, but he also made sure we liked what we ordered whilst sharing his recommendation based on our preferences. The drinks we ordered were phenomenal and leaves me wanting more! M6 favorite was the matcha float which was a scoop of matcha ice cream infused in an iced matcha latte. What's amazing about this drink is that it starts off relatively mild in sweetness, but gradually becomes slightly sweeter as the ice cream melts and blends in with the rest of the drink! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the matcha float if you're a matcha lover!

Thank you for the amazing service and I can't wait to come back!

Thank you for reading and...

Eating 9 viral insta-worthy deserts in Japan and our ratings on each of them! 👇🏼 1) Matcha Mont Blanc @chacha.futatsume in Tokyo - looks super neat and it was fun to try but didn’t love the taste, the ice cream was pretty good inside. 7/10 (pictured at the same time is ice cream from across the street 8/10) 2) Matcha drinks and Sakura cloud shaped cake @kumonocha_kyoto - So good! Both were delicious and there are lots of these cafes around so there’s not much of a line up 10/10 3) Panel Cafe Fluffy Pancakes in Kyoto - these were seriously delicious but the 2.5 hour wait was not a vibe. It’s tasty enough to maybe justify standing in line, but we would skip next time 9/10 4) Mitarashi Tango (Rice Dumplings in Sweet Soy Glaze) - You can find these rice dumplings all over Japan and in various flavours we had these ones in Gion. It was definitely worth a try, very interesting texture but not our favourite snack 6/10 5) Sakura and Matcha soft serve - You can find it all over, the soft serve in Japan is something else, definitely try 10/10 6) Matcha ice cream bars from @itohkyuemon in Kyoto - Super delicious and tasty 9/10 7) Macha Tiramisu from macchahouse_ can be found in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Pretty good but pricey for the size 8/10 8) Crepes in Harajuku Tokyo - One of the must eat items when you are there from one of the food trucks! 8/10 9) Starbucks Sakura donut - this donut was so good! We got one most mornings and easy to find Starbucks everywhere! 9/10 Which one do you want to try? Definitely number 5 for us! . . . #Japan #Tokyo #Kyoto #viralFood #japaneats
