No. 1 Chinese Kitchen — Restaurant in New York

Soooooo, I struggled with writing this review. I have lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years. This chinese restaurant used to be my go to, but I stopped eating chinese food and hadn't been here in over 10 years. Well, it seems that I wasn't missing much and this place needs to start over from scratch! I can get past the outside looks, but when you try to make egg foo young using one egg, instead of two or three, and then try to cook it in oil that has not been changed in at least six months, then there is a SERIOUS problem. All of the vegetables in the egg foo young were fried to a crisp and absorbed all of the oil, too the point that there was almost no egg evident in the dish.

I was too mad and upset with myself to take it back to the restaurant, because I "secretly" knew I should've went in here in the first place! Unfortunately, this is one of only two chinese restaurants left in the area, without having to walk too far, so that is why they are probably still open. However you probably should stick to something simple like fried rice and some chicken wings(which is what my daughter had). Sincerely, AWFULLY...

I've been coming here for a long time, sometimes consecutively for months so I feel like an expert Numero Uno-ian. HahaJaja. Except, my GoTo is ONLY two or three items on the menu. Tehehe

Before I talk about the food, I love the sense of community they embody. Sometimes I'll be having lunch and overhear conversations and it's so pleasant hearing staff genuinely enquire about customer's children, businesses, etc. Gives me all the great feels.

The staff is very welcoming to me as well and often makes space for me when they're occupying the lone table (after all it's a takeout spot). I enjoy hearing them sing along with the music and I've added a few Asian hits to my playlist.

Their food is good and consistent. I'm not much of an adventurer when it comes to my tummy so when I find a dish I like, I'll order it for months until my little palate begs me "no more". Each time I order it's fresh, and tasty just like it was the previous day.

Prices are affordable and like most fast-food restaurants, they offer many daily specials.

They get all five of my stars because hey, they're Number...

Ordered because of the 4 star rating on seemless. Got my food 40 minutes late. Delivery guy was kinda rude. Yelled for me to "come down!!" And when I got downstairs he wasn't even there. The food was cold and coagulated. Sesame noodle appetizer was straight gross. Can't eat it, guess I gotta throw away the whole dish. The Rangoon and orange chicken is okay, what I'd expect from basic Chinese takeout, but it was cold and the texture really suffered. I order Chinese takeout like once a year to satisfy the craving - anyone with a recommendation for good Chinese food in Brooklyn...
