I was at this small ice cream/ice pop spot with a handful of others after going to the excellent Bong nearby. The staff since I was friendly and I tried a couple flavors before settling on two which were $8.50 with one scoop being $6 and three being $10 I believe with the scoop sizes being pretty big. In terms of ice cream texture, it's not as creamy as some other spots but I don't mind a thicker ice cream and the sorbet was not too icy which was definitely a plus. I went with one ice cream and one sorbet with those being the Sorrel Rum and the Soursop Ice Cream.

While I usually prefer ice cream pretty heavily over sorbets because of texture, I preferred the sorrel as it was strongly flavored and just outstanding. I love sorrel having had it multiple times because of my workplace and this was a excellent version with a bit of sourness but not too much and a bit of spice presumably from the rum or some other spices they use for the sorrel with both being likely. The soursop was a bit lighter but still had enough guanabana flavor to be unique (though without the texture of course) and I would still recommend it. I also tried someone else's Guava Cheesecake Ice Cream which I also liked and I was happy that it wasn't overly sweetened as many guava pastries/ treats are.

I would be very happy if this place opened up a location outside of Crown Heights as I liked the flavors a lot and it would be a nice spin on the general ice cream places usually located in Manhattan or the Asian ones popping up. I think LES would be perfect for instance but for now, there's definitely a possibility I would go back down here and get more of this if I'm going to be going back here for dinner or...

So I was at this day party June 17 2017 and I was introduced to ice pops the adult version. There was an enterpreuner there giving out free samples of pineapple, mango, sorrel, Hennessey and other fruit flavors Virgin and spiritual and I was hooked. Well fast forward into the future and yesterday while walking home from work I ran into the icepop factory and I being a foodie, I could not resist. There was this new flavor called "Spicy Mango." It's to die for figuratively speaking. I had one and then another. If you're into spicy foods and if you ever had a mango salad before ๐Ÿ˜‹ ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ well there it is. This ice pops is like a futuristic version of a mango salad on a stick. It's a great summer snack, biting into one took be back to my day's as a kid back in the Caribbean on a tropical sunny day after a day of swimming in the ocean to a sweet, cool and spicy taste of a confection that stimulates the Palette and turns you into ba kid again. But don't take my word for it. Whenever you're in Brooklyn visit them on Nostrand Avenue it's called Island Pops. The owner is a mixologist/chemist/food scientist in his own right tell...

Felt for a Sunday afternoon treat and decided on Island Pops only to experience rude customer service. Upon walking in with my daughter to the empty shop I was not greeted, only to be met with stairs. I asked for my daughter to try two samples, which the lady serving us seemed annoyed. I ordered 3 two scoop ordersโ€ฆ she was giving me 2 orders of two scoop and one order of one scoop, when I repeated my correct ordered she got upset for having to add another scoop. I apologize for not hearing her, which I should not have to because it was an honest mistake. The icing was when I asked for some sprinkles on one order, her face express and body language side it. I just did not understand why she was behaving in such a manner. The ice cream was delicious but itโ€™s a no for customer service. I always try to support black owned businesses, especially West Indians this is why I will not give them one star. We need to do better and treat all customers the same, because I did not see the same energy when the white man and woman walked in after me. I will not be returning to this establishments, Iโ€™m sure my money is good...

My friend and I decided to check out Island Pops around 1:30pm on a Saturday to try their unique ice cream flavors! There is no seating area, so that may be something to consider with the blazing summer heat. I got the soursop ($6.24), and my friend got ovaltine ($6.24 + 0.52 for sugar cone). Regarding the heat issue, my friend's cone started melting like crazy as soon as we exited the shop, making it a little harder to eat. Flavor-wise, we sampled different flavors before settling on the ones we picked, and I will say the flavors are unique! I cannot speak to their authenticity, but it did seem like effort was put into creating the flavors. Texture-wise, the ice cream was slightly less creamy than my ideal texture, but that's more personal preference. Customer service was fantastic! I asked a lot of questions to know the flavor profiles, and everyone in the store was extremely welcoming, helpful, and non-judgmental. The descriptions were also on-point! Overall, if you're open to trying new Caribbean flavors, head over to Island Pops!
