Dined here on July 14th.
I have dined at ALL the Michelin starred restaurant in nyc, and yet, never had this kind of an experience like I had at Noda.
As we were just about to start the dinner, our sommelier (his name was John) insisted that I should do the sake pairing because I looked like I would the “flashy guy.” No clue what that meant but I said I’m not a big sake guy, however, he kept on insisting I should do the pairing which I had to end up saying straight no because he seemed too persistent about it.
Throughout the night, we were ordering drinks from John, he seemed almost as rude every time we ordered something he didn’t want us to order. He even close the menu book super loud middle of the dinner as he was making a statement after taking my order for a beer…
At the end of the night he was giving everyone a drink as he was saying “male guest gets the whiskey and female guests shall get this fruit shots.” I ended up getting the fruit one when other male guests clearly received glasses of whiskey. Regardless of his intentions were, If you were going to serve everyone a drink, it shouldn’t have been presented this way at a Michelin starred restaurant where we all pay over 400 dollars just to dine.
Lastly, couple days after I checked my Amex and I found out that it was charged double for my drinks at Noda… A drink or two mistakes would have been understanding but I just don’t know how they would make mistakes by double the amount, literally.
As previously mentioned I have dined and documented every single Michelin starred restaurant in the city and it was actually second time dining at Noda (wanted to check their new location and dinner menu).
Noda simply does not deserve their 1 star review any longer. The restaurant clearly lost its vision to serve every customer with respect, instead all they care about was making extra dollars.
Highly recommend staying away from this restaurant and book any other Michelin starred Omakase on tock...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have slowly been making our way through the plethora of omakase restaurants in NYC. I reserved this tasting counter for her birthday and we were not disappointed. This was the most high end tasting we’ve done, yet the staff and the chef did not make the environment feel rigid or too proper. They were professional yet personable, very knowledgeable and made the experience an incredibly fun time for all. They kept things loose, for lack of a better term. The chef had a great charisma and you could tell he took such pride in his work. The food, immaculate and well done. At one point the chef asked if there was too much or too little wasabi in the nigiri. I simply replied “it’s perfect” because he was a true master of his craft. The environment was incredibly welcoming and it felt as though the staff loved what they did. We received a complimentary glass of bourbon and white wine for my girlfriend’s birthday, a wonderful end to the night. The pictures I took are limited as I try to immerse myself in the experience while I’m there, but the food was too beautiful not to grab a few pics. Well worth the money, do not...
Read moreEating at Noda was such a special experience all around. The ambiance, the service, and especially the food were exceptional on every level. This was a birthday dinner for me, but in the last minutes before our reservation (I was actually already at the restaurant) my husband got in a minor bicycle accident (but still scratched up and had to go to urgent care) and without hesitation they offered to rebook our reservation and were super worried for him as well. So we ended up back here a few weeks later and we thoroughly enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the team. The meal is 22 pieces (plus a dessert truffle) of the most delicious bites. I started getting full around the 14th or 15th piece and he was nice enough to give me the remaining pieces with less rice. The chef is very pleasant and watching him is also a treat in itself. Our server was knowledgeable on all aspects of our meal and not overbearing/snobby like certain other high-end omakase restaurants. This meal will cost you a pretty penny, especially with drinks, but you don't leave feeling like you didn't get your...
