The aroma of jerk chicken and the rhythmic beat of reggae music filled the air as you stepped into "Island Vibes," the best Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn. Owned and operated by the warm and welcoming couple, Ricky and Juliette, this small yet vibrant eatery was a true gem. Ricky, a master chef with a passion for authentic Jamaican cuisine, meticulously crafted each dish with love and care. From the succulent oxtails simmered to perfection to the flavorful escoveitch fish, every bite was an explosion of island flavors. Juliette, a whirlwind of energy, ensured the smooth running of the kitchen, her laughter echoing through the space as she coordinated orders and checked on her husband. The front of house was equally impressive. Lotaya, Kerry, and the ever-gracious Ms. Loretta, the matriarch of the family, provided impeccable service with genuine smiles. They knew every regular by name, remembered their favorite dishes, and always went the extra mile to make sure every customer felt like family. The restaurant itself might have been small, but it overflowed with warmth and personality. The walls were adorned with vibrant colors and the space was filled with natural light, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Laughter and lively conversations filled the air, creating a true taste of island life in the heart of Brooklyn. Whether you were a seasoned foodie or simply looking for a taste of something new, Island Vibes was an experience you wouldn't soon forget. The delicious food, the friendly faces, and the vibrant atmosphere made it a true neighborhood treasure.

$52 on two medium oxtail, one had a side of sweet plantains (4 for $1) the other Rasta pasta ($2) and a side of Mac and cheese ($5). No flavor or the Rasta pasta and Mac and cheese. I was disappointed. The rice was good oxtail was ok, in a thin watery sauce which is fine, the meat was soft and fell off the bone but didn’t find much flavor

The air-conditioning was ideal not too cold and not warm because it was warm that day I went. The staff were helpful to the customers based on my observation.

I went there yesterday; lady serving us had a B*ITCHY attitude. I asked how much for a small oxtail plate, she said they only had Medium and Large but the Medium was the size of a Small plate. Then, she tried making my plate for me as if I couldn’t choose. Oxtail plate was $21 and she would only give me mac and cheese if I paid extra for more. Most soul food plates come with 2 sides and a meat. The oxtail wasn’t even all that and the mac and cheese was a JOKE. For her to have an attitude like her food was the best, the food was garbage. When I went to pay, the total was $46 for 2 plates. She kept asking if we had card but I wanted to pay cash so I gave a $100 bill. She rolled her eyes and sighs and states they didn't have change. I noticed she didn’t give any attitude to my black friend but with me, she was very rude and gave a lot of attitude. Overall, the food is NOT worth the money that it is priced at. Will never...

If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience at Ricky’s was nothing short of a nightmare, thanks to their appalling customer service.

I placed an order for pickup via DoorDash, it said it would take 20 mins. I showed up 35 mins later and when I asked for my order I was told by the very rude lady behind the counter that it wasn’t ready and I have to wait. When I asked why she was dismissive, unhelpful, and rude. She stated they have a line ( which was only 4 ppl waiting in line). I then asked how much longer and her reply was “I don’t know when we get to it”. I asked to cancel my order and she said “you have to do it in your end, not our problem”. She made no effort to rectify the situation.

This place clearly values turnover over quality service. There are far better restaurants in the area that actually appreciate their customers. Save your time, money, and patience—avoid Ricky’s...
