When Food Becomes Medicine for the Soul
Living with an autoimmune disease has taught me that dining out is an act of vulnerability—each meal a negotiation between desire and caution, hope and fear. I entered PLNT Burger carrying the weight of countless disappointing encounters, yet Samantha at the front desk saw past my hesitation to the person beneath.
Her intuitive understanding transcended mere customer service. When I shared my dietary constraints, she didn't offer hollow reassurances but genuine expertise, guiding me toward their signature burger with the confidence of someone who truly comprehends the intersection of nourishment and necessity. The accompanying fries and black cherry soda weren't mere sides—they became instruments of comfort.
The first bite revealed a profound truth: plant-based cuisine, when crafted with intention, doesn't substitute for satisfaction—it redefines it. Each element harmonized perfectly, the burger's complex flavors unfolding like a revelation, the fries achieving that elusive balance of texture and taste, the cherry soda providing a bright counterpoint that elevated the entire experience.
But Samantha's gift extended far beyond menu knowledge. In a world where disability often renders one invisible, she created space for my whole self. Her exemplary care transformed a simple transaction into an affirmation of dignity. She understood that accommodation isn't charity—it's recognition of our shared humanity.
PLNT Burger has achieved something rare: they've created sanctuary. Here, dietary restrictions become opportunities for creativity, differences become strengths, and every guest discovers what it means to be truly seen. This isn't just dining—it's restoration of faith in...
Read moreI’m honestly rating the food as 3 stars because honestly, I placed my order almost half an hour ago and I still haven’t gotten to taste it.
The restaurant is nearly empty - one order in front of us and one order behind us. We ordered their fish sandwich and the bacon cheeseburger, with a side of the crispy green beans to share. That’s 2 sandwiches, one side, no drink, and our order has been pending for over TWENTY FIVE MINUTES in an empty restaurant. The food wasn’t cheap either - nearly $30 for the three items!
We are sitting here starving at a dirty table while we watch two people leisurely “cook” and one girl in a white sweater covered in black hearts stand there on her phone in the middle of the kitchen.
It’s honestly ridiculous. We were excited to try this place as I’m a vegetarian and also allergic to fish, so the all-plant based menu was very appealing to us. We tend to find the plant based restaurants we like and make them a regular part of the rotation. Needless to say, we won’t ever be returning. The wait is absolutely RIDICULOUS for this overpriced food, and the lack of professionalism was poignant.
EDIT: we finally ate another 20 minutes later. 50 minutes to prepare two sandwiches and a side. The food was mediocre at best.
It seems white sweater girl was an influencer taking marketing shots for the restaurant without gloves on, with her grimey phone IN THE KITCHEN. We definitely won’t be back, and judging from the quality of food and shoddy service, they’re going to need a LOT more worthless influencer marketing to keep their...
Read moreNot my thing. I am vegan for many reasons, one is I love vegetables. This is not the place for that. I went with my partner who is not vegan and he loves this place, so I altered my review to reflect his thoughts.
My first visit I had the chili, it is good. My partner had the burger. I had a bite. I did not like it. He did. I don't love hamburgers.
This visit he had the burger again, we got seasoned fries and deep fried, breaded green beans. I got the chicken sandwich. He was happy with his burger and he liked the green bean fries. I did not like anything I had. But I would come back and try the chili and one of the salads. It was too much grease for me. Too many deep fried things. The fried chicken sandwich was mostly deep fried breading. I didn't taste or see much vegan meat to know if it was supposed to be chicken. We got a selection of sauces that neither of us liked. I needed an all natural lemonade or something acidic to break up all the fat. I felt gross the rest of the day.
If trying to soak up alcohol or looking for a vegan version of Sonic (or some other mass produced, highly processed, fast food place) this would be your thing. It...
