Here's the translation of the social media post into English: --- A quick rundown of NYC eats under $$-$$ on Yelp (the US's version of Dazhong Dianping) 1⃣️The Smith🥞 Brunch is an essential part of American life, and no matter the size of the restaurant, NYC is always packed on weekends. The Smith is a classic must-visit. My favorite dish there is their various egg benedicts, and they offer free regular and sparkling water. 2⃣️Sushi Yasuda🍣 Super high value for money. NYC's overall sushi quality is way better than Beijing's. Despite its $$ rating on Yelp, the quality here is on par with Ran in Beijing. Lunch sets are available, but I personally find dinner to be of higher quality. Make sure to book in advance for dinner, or you'll definitely be waiting in line. 3⃣️Chelsea Market🦀️ As the name suggests, it's an "seafood market" with prices ranging from low to high. My favorite spot here is the oyster bar, where you can try oysters from all over. I recommend going after dark when the lights come on—perfect for photos, ladies! 4⃣️Hakata Tonton🥘 I initially went for their pork trotter hot pot but was greatly disappointed. Fellow foodies, I recommend ordering the dishes in my photo, especially the garlic fried rice in the bottom right corner. Don't doubt it, even though it's just a bowl of fried rice, it's truly amazing! They only serve dinner, usually requiring a two-day advance booking. If not, be sure to queue up right when they open to get a seat. 5⃣️Big Gay Ice-cream🍦 Right next to Hakata Tonton, I always grab one as dessert after my trotter feast. It's seriously delicious! 6⃣️Obao🍜 Head over for a warm bowl of pho bo or pad thai. The indoor photo below is from Yelp (because it's just too beautiful [drooling emoji]). 7⃣️Thai Villa🍜 The decor here is absolutely stunning! You can choose between traditional and modernized dishes. Located in Soho, tired shoppers, go grab a bite! 8⃣️Miscellaneous 🥗Sweetgreen, originating from DC, is a healthy salad choice favored by many finance workers. The taste blows away domestic salads by several blocks... 🍕MyPie is a chain pizza place with over 10 flavors to choose from. Go mix and match! 🍔Shake Shack needs no introduction—a must-visit "sight" in NYC. This photo is from Yelp (I was too eager to eat and forgot to snap one…). I usually go to the one near the MET. Grab a burger to refuel after a tiring midday visit. ---

Been awhile since we'd been to the Smith for a sit down meal, even pre-covid. So we were a bit surprised by how good the 3-course prix fixe lunch meal was. We had the tomato soup and the ricotta gnochhi to start. The soup was done in the style of a French onion soup, a huge amount of grilled cheese on top, which was decadently delightful. The gnocchi was also very, very good. To follow that we had the butternut squash tortellini and the chicken pot pie. Again the tortellini was excellent and I loved this version of chicken pot pie. We finished off with a cheese cake in a jar which was also nice. All of which came to a really reasonable price. One of the other good things they do is provide both still and sparkling water at no extra cost. And are very good at bringing a refill bottle if emptied. The one snag we had was that eating on the 27th St sidewalk wasn't the greatest as there was a funky smell that kept wafting our way every now and then. The Broadway side is much nicer for outdoor dining and that's where we had brunch during one weekend. Having the burger, which was yummy, but messy and a serious pile of fries! There were also propane heaters available, but ironically put out too much heat on a warm day we went there. Oh, make sure you book 2 days in advance if you want brunch on the weekends as it's super popular.

2nd Visit Review (September '21): We made online reservations for 4 adults and a toddler around noon and got a reservation easily for a Sunday afternoon, the day prior. The place was relatively busy when we arrived but were seated within 5 minutes on our outdoors table. Their tables are tightly packed so getting in and out of the covid booths was very tight and their outdoor chairs are extremely uncomfortable. Service was slightly slow and we saw 2 different servers take our orders. We ordered a few cocktails which weren't that great, although we did enjoy their beers on tap which included a Pilsner and a Kolsch. The menu overall was on the expensive side, and it definitely hurt to pay $16 for bite sized pieces of Burrata, and $17 for a very cheesy Mac + Cheese, and $21 for a Mediterranean salad, which however, was quite well dressed and tasty! Overall, we did not have that a great experience, but just wanted to try out this place once. Older Review: Met an old colleague for breakfast and we were seated right away at 8:30 am on a Fri morning. The place was fairly empty. I ordered their Eggs any style ($16) from the breakfast menu and asked my eggs to be scrambled with pepper jack cheese. I got the chicken sausage and has an option for applewood smoked bacon. The chicken sausage was actually a chicken sausage pattie and was apple-wood flavored as well. Our order arrived quickly and the best thing about my plate were the baby mixed greens which were well seasoned. My scrambled eggs came with a very thick, non-edible piece of onion which I alerted to the team to confirm if it indeed was edible or if it was a small piece of plastic? The staff member confirmed it was onion - but it was quite terrible. Service was good, quick and the servers were very attentive and ensured constant coffee refills. Overall, a good experience, just on the expensive side for breakfast!

The food here is great! We really enjoyed the oysters & mac cheese! The issue was the service. This was the worst experience I've had while dining in New York. We ate here for Labor Day & one of our guest ordered from the Weekday Menu (M-F), instead of the brunch menu. Labor day was on a Monday and we were not informed that the (M-F menu) was not applicable due to the Holiday. When we asked for the bill, the waiter was very, very rude. He called us a liar several times (in front of his manager) and was very unprofessional. To be honest, he had a negative vibe the entire brunch. He told me the 3 items that I had ordered while there, were not a special they were willing to honor because I was ordering off the incorrect menu. Two managers in total came to our table to help discuss the mishap. The district manager (the second manager) was the one who said he'd honor the brunch menu prices since we weren't informed they were unavailable. The waiter continue to ring us out, avoiding eye contact as he did so. Outside of an immature waiter, the food was great and the summer outdoor vibes were amazing! I feel like the small event was made worse by horrible customer service of the waiter, I wish I would've captured his name.
