I travel to Japan three times a year for business. The first meal I always have upon arrival is Japanese ramen — and finally, I found ramen in the U.S. that tastes just like what I eat in Japan. It was so amazing that I asked to speak with the owner, and I learned why it tasted so authentic. They make the noodles from scratch, boil the broth themselves (unlike many places in the U.S. that just mix concentrated base with water), and all the other ingredients are house-made.
It’s Hakata-style ramen, made with straight noodles and a pork-based broth, and the balance of the flavors was absolutely perfect. What surprised me even more was the small sushi bar — they fly in ingredients directly from the Toyosu Market in Japan every week, and everything was incredibly fresh. This place might just be a hidden gem in New York.
I’ve never written a Google review before, but the taste and service here made me do it for the first time. I’m writing this in hopes that it helps this place grow — though, to be honest, I’m also a little worried that sooner or later there will be lines out the door. But I am sure I am going to come back. It was worthy trying this place as their neighbor who lives in...
Read morelittle spot with okay ramen and nice service. The karaage chicken was really good, but my husband and my tonkotsu ramen was really oily.
I really love spicy and I had the spicy tonkotsu which didn’t really have enough creaminess/flavor to balance and counteract all the spice that rests at the back of your throat which made the ramen broth undrinkable. It was not that creamy silky broth we remember from Japan. (See my other reviews) We both left our broth which we’ve never done. :( The egg, and noodles in the ramen were really good.. the chasu pork was okay.
My son had the karrage chicken bowl and that was really good. The chicken was nice and crispy and flavorful. We also had sushi and that was nice and fresh.
But we won’t be coming back as the ramen was not worth it and this is a ramen place.
Lastly, they offer a gapchon coin In exchange for review (which they request to look at in order to verify, which means you’ll be inclined to give 5 stars at first). This was a tactic I remember when we travelled to Japan. I just edited down my review...
Read moreFound this hidden gem and had such a good time I had to write about it. First off, huge shoutout to Kevin, the manager. Super friendly and genuinely helpful. He took the time to walk us through the menu and even recommended their signature ramen (which looked amazing), but we had just had ramen recently so decided to explore the rest of the menu. Definitely coming back to try it next time!! Now on to the food. 🍗 Karaage. Golden, crispy perfection. Juicy inside with the perfect crunch. 🍅 Hiyashi Umai Tomato Salad. Okay, I didn’t expect to be obsessed with a tomato salad, but this one?? Cold, sweet, and so refreshing. It was giving dessert energy in the best way. A total MUST try!! 🐟 Kaisen Don. Incredibly fresh. My boyfriend isn’t even a raw fish person and he ended up eating most of it. That’s how good it was¨̮ The drinks were light and refreshing, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Loved the vibe, loved the food, and already planning our next visit (that ramen is...
