Pretty on plate but bland on taste. Plus rude Manager to add to a poor experience. Let’s talk service first. Called at 6pm to make reservations for 7.30 and was told that no reservations today it’s all walk in. Reached at 7.20 (drove from Queens to Manhattan) and the manager who was bartender or bartender who doubled as manager asked for reservation even though 9 out of 12 tables were empty. I told him we tried to make reservation on phone and were told it’s walk in today and he completely denied it and insisted we should have made reservation. But how when the lady who picked call said none was needed today. We asked if we should leave then he said wait 5 mins and I will check. Made us wait 10-12 mins by bar side while my kids were hungry, as he had to hand over Uber orders first, punch in order for a take away and handle make a few drinks then he made time for us and got us one of the 9 empty tables. No regrets or making you welcome. Already a poor start.
About food- we ordered 5 entrees, two appetizers and a side. To my utter dismay and my family’s (we are regular Persian eaters and we try and look for the best Everytime we travel) the food though looked pretty on the plate was terribly lacking flavor, aroma or any Persian taste. The rice was ok-ish with baghali pulav having not enough Lima beans and zereshk pulao appeared to be watered down version. The lamb koobideh was meh and chicken koobideh was ok but uncooked in some parts of it. The Cornish chicken (jooheh kebab) lacked any flavor and appeared chicken roasted with a dash of color with no marination. The only partly saving grace was mast moosir and the Qaimeh. White rice was just steamed basmati and not done persian style that fluffs up. In all the food was a major disappointment as we started our NYC trip with this meal. It’s the least best $200 spent on persian food for a family of 4 adults and two kids. I would definitely give this a pass and not recommend to anyone at all. PS: bartender/manager you may want to learn the art of management and know even good food cannot save...

Odd place. Arrived for my 6:30 reservation with half of the total party of four. I inform the host the other two persons are walking from the subway stop to the restaurant.
The host invited us to the bar which was crowded (and has no seats), or just stand next to the door while he prepare the table. It's a small restaurant, there's no waiting area so my wife (who is 7 months pregnant) and I are forced to stand.
This is where it got weird, a minute into our wait another party entered the establishment who were treated differently than my wife and I. Despite their party not all there they were quickly given a table. The only difference between my party and the party entering a few minutes later was the color of my skin.
Annoyed by this I ask the host if the table is ready, he replies 'you rather wait sitting with a table?' to which I replied 'are you asking me if I'd rather stand waiting rather than sitting down?' I of course would like to sit. Not one minute after being seated did the other two members of our party joined.
I'm shocked by this place.
Here's the other weird thing, the food isn't good. I'm not kidding, the food was bad.
People, this is not a good or great food. Avoid the stew at all cost. Both stews ordered were just awful. One bite into my meal i sent it back. (Way too much turmeric?) The restaurant made sure to leave the inedible meal on the bill, and didn't offer to substitute the dish.
The meat kebabs were just alright.
Just because food is from an exotic land or different, that does NOT make it good. No real persian would...
Read moreI stopped by here for a late lunch for the first time. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and enthusiasm. Everyone that worked there said hello and looked happy to be there. The restaurant itself is very cute, cozy, and clean.
I’m pretty new to Persian Cuisine and have only had it once other time. While I liked it the first time- this time I REALLY enjoyed it. The koobideh kabobs were seasoned perfectly and was soo juicy and tender. For dessert I got Persian tea (which I love) and I decided to try to Faloodeh. The fresh lemon and sour cherries were a lovely touch, making it very light and fresh after that amazing meal. The noodles in it were also a nice surprise as it gave it a nice texture. The best part is I didn’t feel overstuffed or tired after eating. It felt like I was eating a comforting home meal- that being said I left extremely happy and satisfied lol
I also got the dark meat chicken Kabob to as well to try it .. it was sooo juicy. I think I could just eat the chicken every day like that alone lol in the to go bag they also packed some of their delicious fresh bread, along with sauces for it and some sumac.
Needless to say, I will be returning again! I’m constantly craving that koobideh and I absolutely want to try some new things!
Also needed to add that while I was eating, a customer came in wanting gluten free options. One gentleman kindly stood there and assisted her, pointing out everything she could get. The people always make the...
