It’s a great place with great food. But if it’s just two people I am not sure their seating arrangements are great. If you want to be packed like sardines then this might be your place. I loved everything about the place including the food, lighting, service, wine, ambience….except the seating. They pack six tables for two people in a space that should be for 4 tables. Maybe 5. And then despite most of them being empty, as guests come in they will seat you next to the only occupied one. You go to a Restaurant to enjoy the environment and be comfortable. We were not. The other couple sitting next to us were not comfortable either. We were so close that we could also touch each others elbows and hear everything being said. There were a few times we looked at each other because it was not possible to avoid being distracted. I don’t get restaurants that try to make an extra buck but in the process create a less memorable experience and loose the possibility of someone coming back. As much as I loved this place i can’t go back given the seating arrangement and their...
Read moreWe went here for a friend's 10-year anniversary dinner, seated at a table for 4. Unfortunately, one seat was really uncomfortable and when my friend asked to move, the hostess was incredibly rude, claiming it wasn't possible. Feeling uncomfortable, my friend swapped seats with her husband. Later, the manager questioned the move, and when explained about the discomfort, he became agitated, insisting they couldn't do anything. I mean you could offer a cushion or make some kind of effort to help us. There’s always something that can be done.
This obviously made us feel unwelcome, prompting us to quickly finish our meal. Despite a dessert offer, we just wanted to leave.
As a chef in London, I believe hospitality is about comfort and kindness and making people feel at home. This restaurant fell below expectations in every way. I don’t think anyone should drop a dime in an establishment where people refuse to talk to you with respect. Ps: pasta was not that...
Read moreMy wife and I have been going to Felice 64 for years as our favorite date spot in the city. The atmosphere is incredibly charming and intimate, but without being too small. A great selection of wines and drinks and delicious food, and the service has always been attentive and kind. The past several times we've even had the same server named Richard, who is fantastic, and it's nice to recognize someone and to be recognized. I've taken family here when they're in town as well, the staff has always been accommodating. And while not somewhere for someone on a tight budget, it's also a great place for a romantic date that isn't outrageous in price. I'd say the bill for my wife and I to have appetizers, entrées and a few rounds of drinks is usually in the 100 to 150 range, which for a date night in Manhattan isn't bad at all! Overall, Felice has become an important place for my wife and I, and we plan to come back for...
