Went last night and they don't close till 12:30 the waiter Danny came over and said it's last call for drinks so my friend and I got two more rounds of drinks and then Danny put the bill in front of us it was only 12. I said I wasn't done eating and he never said it was last call for food. Regardless we had two more drinks to finish. We were sitting at the sushi bar and the chef didn't mind serving us more pieces. Danny said no we couldn't order more. Unbelievable our bill was over 400$ to be treated like that after such an expensive meal was horrible. Danny was so rude basically kicking us out because he wanted to go home. There were other people there as well. In any restaurant I've been to I've never been treated so poorly. What a terrible experience I will not be back. The chef looked horrified when Danny spoke to us that way even the other people there were in shock. Customer service is very important but unfortunately their staff lacks that and it was very embarrassing to be treated that way. After reading other reviews I see a lot of people say the same thing about the staff. I called to speak to a manager and still haven't heard back. I then called again and the hostess said she's not there and I said I just spoke to someone else earlier and he said she was there. She then said yes she's is here but she's busy just email us. I said no I can wait and she hung up on me. I can't even make this up how horrible the staff is. And mind you Danny actually said he was the manager and when I called I was told he wasn't. Unreal there's so many other sushi places save your money. Also the decor...

Well, food lovers...there you have it. A ridiculously amazing sushi spot on the Upper East Side. Say whaaaaaaa?

I had a long day and by long I mean, long. I was craving sushi badly but too lazy to go anywhere far. Sushi Seki is literally a 5 minute walk from my apartment and if it was any longer, I probably wouldn't have even gone tonight. Yes, I was THAT lazy/tired/annoyed.

I called and managed to snag a 5:30 sushi counter reservation just an hour before (they open at 5:30).

The sushi is a bit on the sweeter side which is what I like personally. They also add some sauces here and there to make it more flavorful. While I feel like the people who were eating at Sushi Seki didn't appreciate sushi as much as I had hoped them to (come on people, California rolls?! NO) the food was the main focus (and not the ambiance).

SUSHI PIECES - OMAKASE (chefs choice) Medium fatty tuna, snapper, yellowtail, snow crab, toro with tofu, kanpachi, fluke, fatty tuna, white shrimp, eel with avocado, uni, seared toro, seared monkfish, fried oyster, spicy scallop hand roll.

Honestly, everything was amazing and I find this to be better than Sushi of Gari and also less expensive. For the amount of pieces we had, I found this to be a very good value as sushi pieces can really add up. This will absolutely be my go-to spot in my area. I definitely think this is one of the best sushi...

I came to sushi seki for my first omakase experience and it did not disappoint! First, we got some appetizers and the fried chicken was very good, flavorful and tender. Then, the first omakase dish came out and I was stunned by the presentation, very pretty! That tuna was absolutely MIND-BLOWING! It was my first time having tuna that didn't taste fishy and it just melted in my mouth. Every single piece of sushi I had was so tasty, I couldn't stop smiling. On the next plate, my favorite was the oyster! It was so tasty and the seaweed added great flavor as well. On the next plate, I was scared to have their uni because of a past experience but it was actually sweet and very good! It made me realize I just didn't have quality sushi before. I really like the scallop nigiri as well and the hand roll was delicious! I was so full but needed to try their dessert and I was shocked that even the dessert was AMAZING. I almost ordered a second one, I believe it was a chocolate panna cotta.

The service was great too, I have no complaints. Each piece was explained by the server and they made sure to accommodate our requests, each of us had different ones. They had a welcoming atmosphere as soon as we walked in. Overall, best experience I've ever had, the food was excellent. I've had omakase many times since then but sushi seki is still my number one choice, I'll...

Absolutely delicious omakase for a pretty penny. They do open omakase so it keeps going until you ask for it to close off. If you have a budget, you can estimate at about $40 per plate round. We came here for our anniversary dinner and was pleasantly blown away. Every piece of fish we had was really interesting and incredibly tasty. The fatty tuna melts without needing to chew in your mouth, the oyster was just the right amount of brininess that my partner who usually dislikes oysters was happy with the flavour while I love a very strong oyster which this hit the right spot for. Their sautéed tomatoes compliments the other dishes very well, the scallop is very tender with the right amount of salt and lemon, and my favourite might’ve been then tofu sushi with tuna and tofu sauce! Overall it was quite crowded for a Friday night at 7pm and the area inside the restaurant is quite small. Consider coming earlier or calling to make a reservation ahead of time.

I want to give this place a 5. What I liked: 1. We told them we weren’t comfortable w the outdoor table they gave us because it was on top of two other tables, so they happily moved us.(thank you!) 2. The food was delicious. The quality was high. The flavor was poppin. 3. The service was good, not great, but good enough. What I didn’t like: There was a group of four teenagers RIGHT next to our table. Two were seated and two were standing in the narrow space btw their table and ours. They were squealing like the school girls they were for 25 mins. I asked them to keep their voice down and they didn’t. I asked the waiter to address the volume, the proximity, and he didn’t. I asked him AFTER we had already placed our order and both of us ordered a main that was over $50 each and a glass of wine. We are here spending money, they should respectfully control the crowd, especially when those in question are paying w mommy and daddy’s money.
