Been coming here for quite a while as my office is right around the corner. Always get the same thing, turkey and cheese on a hero. $15. Pretty simple. Today the guy tried to charge me $24 for the sandwich. i said that does not make sense and is virtually impossible for a standard sized hero. Even when i tried to point out the price on the menu, he still wasn’t getting it. Then he tried to tell me he was charging me a dollar for every extra item i put on the sub which was basically lettuce, tomato and onion. The math still didn’t work out. then he tried to argue that the price he usually gives me was him being nice, even though this is not even the guy that usually makes my sandwich. Not sure who he was (owner?)
To make matters worse, he toasted the sandwich even though i did not want it toasted, put honey mustard on and no Mayo, even though I asked for extra mayo and spicy mustard. Not a major catastrophe, save for the attitude he gave me, saying i only asked for honey mustard.
Sadly, wont be coming back here again on account of dumb/awful customer service. Again, $24 for a sandwich? Literally, you can get a Katz Pastrami sandwich for that price, which is both bigger and niche.
After reading some of the negative reviews, which i never thought of doing because always had such a positive opinion of this place, come to realize that price gauging and cowboy mentality math seem to be a part of...
Read moreIn the heart of New York City, where the streets buzz even at midnight, there was a tiny deli on the corner of 42nd and 9th called Tony’s Midnight Bite. But locals whispered of a legendary sandwich made there, one that could change your life.
They called it The Empire Stack.
No one knew the full recipe. All anyone knew was that it started with warm, crusty sourdough, toasted just right. Inside were layers of thin-sliced pastrami, smoked turkey, melted Swiss cheese, spicy pickles, a secret mustard aioli, and—most surprisingly—a sweet, caramelized apple slaw that gave every bite a magical balance of savory and sweet.
One rainy night, a tired musician named Maya stumbled into the deli after a long gig. She asked Sal for "whatever’s best." Without a word, he slid her a plate with The...
