The food at this restaurant is overall quite decent — fresh ingredients and flavors that meet expectations. However, the service was extremely disappointing and left a negative impression, which is why I can only give one star for that aspect.
After finishing my meal, I wasn’t aware that I was expected to clear my own tray. While the restaurant mentioned that a sign is posted near the ordering counter, I believe it’s unreasonable to assume that every customer — especially first-time visitors — will read all signage thoroughly while placing an order. When I didn’t clear my tray, a staff member loudly called out “Excuse me,” in a tone that felt abrupt and unwelcoming, without any polite explanation. When I mentioned that I hadn’t realized this was required, I received no response or acknowledgment.
Later, when I brought up that I felt disrespected, the staff offered a very vague and dismissive apology, again emphasizing that the sign was clearly posted. This misses the point: good service means offering a courteous reminder when a customer is unaware, not assuming every guest has memorized your policies. The way it was handled lacked basic respect and hospitality.
To make matters worse, I had left a tip during my visit, which in hindsight felt undeserved given the service. Overall, I don’t feel this restaurant values its customers, and I won’t be returning...
Read moreHad a terrible experience. I accidentally ordered to the wrong Silky Kitchen (this one), but immediately caught it and called them to let them know of the mistake. I stopped them in time from making/wasting the food. When I asked what the options were for this cancellation, they told me cancellation would not be possible because I ordered from their website (?). They would instead write my name down and I should come up to the midtown location at another time to get my order. I told them I didn't want to travel to midtown to get an order, but I would be happy to take the order from my local Silky where I was trying to order from anyway. They said no, and they would need to call the owner (??). I explained that I am a regular customer who must have ordered at the Brooklyn location close to 50 times. They call me back (which I guess is a small miracle in its self, credit to the manager for that), but still can’t help me.
Won't offer a refund. Won't allow me to transfer the order. Why would you punish a customer who is using your preferred method of online ordering? What a misguided hot mess this management is. Too bad because I really like their food. Big let down from a business I have...
Read moreThe last takeaway I ordered was delivered to me by mistake, and I was promised to be compensated with a powder, but I didn't realize that the merchant was actually playing word games, saying that the compensation was for a mere powder, not one with a dish to go with it, causing me to have to place a new order for the order I had originally placed. But the merchant didn't help me cancel the order to reorder either, and even if I accepted their word game, they didn't offer me any help for this situation, letting their mistake affect my order once again.I care not about a few dollars, but this very poor service attitude, overall a very bad service experience, I hope the owner can see to give me an explanation.Don't betray the trust...
