From my perspective the cutting skill and quality are subpar compared to the salons I go to in Tokyo and Hong Kong. The hairstylist had his own taste for whatās good for me. I wanted something different. He was attentive to detail doing his best, but the outcome didnāt meet my expectation.
Honestly speaking the salons located in Ginza are just on a totally different level. I havenāt found anything close to that. The cut was always neat and sharp. I never need to fix my hair once it dries naturally.
This visit was a total letdown. During the whole time thereās not even a sip of water provided. Every single salon here in Austin at least gives you something to drink while they work on you.
Deliver whatās asked is the most important thing. My haircut ended up being the middle ground between what I asked for and what the stylist thought I should get. And it isnāt neat. The reason I choose you and pay you is hoping to get a haircut that I donāt need to work on fixing it myself. I didnāt get that here.
I tipped $23 on top of the original price for encouragement. But letās be honest, I rate this cut 6/10. I donāt like it, and Iām short on time. After all that I have to cut my own hair to fix it. Itās not neat/clean, that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm happy to say I've definitely found the salon that I will be returning to for my haircuts in the future.
Firstly, they have an online booking system that is quick and easy to use. It shows each stylists' availability by date and time.
They are located very conveniently in midtown and the salon is lovely. I was greeted immediately when I entered. The interior is beautifully designed and feels very inviting and comfortable, like a place you would want to hang out.
I had my haircut appointment with Yuki. He's so friendly and treated me kindly. He listened to what I wanted, the whole process was extremely pleasant, and I was super satisfied with the end result. I have had haircuts at other places before that left me in tears or made me disappointed that I spent money on a bad cut, but this haircut from Yuki left me feeling good and confident. So yes, I'll be going back!
Also, they have health safety measures in place. They take your temp and provide you with hand sanitizer. Everyone wears masks the entire time and the salon...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePrice is affordable and fair especially for midtown. I knew exactly what I wanted but they were a bit pushy about thinning my hair after I declined because I was very happy with my volume, but I hesitantly agreed to thin āonly a littleā because it would be āeasier to manageā. The shampooing was excellent and the blow dry was too, but I hate my thinned hair. It used to be long, thick, wavy, smooth, 0 styling required, but now itās just been overrun by frizz because of the varying lengths of hairs from thinning. After the blow dry wore off, you can see hairs as short as 3in sticking out at the top of my head, and unfortunately itāll take a while for it all to grow back out again.
Granted, my hair texture is pretty uncommon for Asian hair, but I would expect a salon to have better hair intuition and not be too pushy. Would be mindful if you have very particular or unique hair texture that requires...
