As much as I wanted to write a stellar review of this Colombian vegan place (I'm colombian and vegan), I have to be truthful and write about my experience tonight. Exceptionally bad service by Sol who apparently was supposed to sit people. I stood there just like the sign told me too and she did not greet me, just looked at me as she was standing by the back of the bar and so I had to go over to her and started speaking" Hello, just for 1." She didn't smile, she pointed to a table. I asked if I could sit by the plug to charge my phone. She acted like it was a tall order but ultimiately let me sit there. I asked about the size of the space and she kept insisting that I had to sit in the front -- I told her I was just asking out of curiosity not because I wanted to sit there. When she came to take the order, she didn't even ask anything she just came to the table and looked at me expectantly. Seriously, not a word. When I asked her questions, she acted like it was a great effort to give me a reply. I even asked for the dessert menu, she forgot and then said finally, sorry, I'm feeling sick. When I'm sick and I have to work I do not allow that to spoil my job duties. If it does then I DON'T COME IN. She should NOT have been working there. The boss came in at the end of the night and her demeanor changed and seemed more energetic. When he left (he came in for about five minutes), it was the same. The other lady at the bar sighed loudly (they were still cleaning despite their being closed) as if to hint for me to get out (even though I was already gathering my things and ate as fast as I could). When I left no one except the busboys (who were super nice) even said bye. I am so disappointed as a Colombian vegan, I went out of my way to come here and I really doubt I would be back. I go out of my way to support vegan establishments especially those owned by POC and my excitement of being there was killed by the super poor service. I didn't even want to give her a tip but I'm too nice sometimes. I should have been bold enough to not do so. The food was pretty good, especially the breakfast empanadas. I asked her about the comedy show on Thursdays (since it was Thursday and I had arrived at 1030pm and the show was supposed to be at 10pm) and she was like I don't know they didn't show up and looked annoyed to answer. She looked bored, and like she didn't want to be there nor did she want any customers there. I saw her act the same way with the couple that came in after me. Also she didn't even know what patacones were although she spoke Spanish. This is a Colombian vegan place and she should know what patacones were. Anyway, so disappointed and sad. Apparently, I'm not the only one who complained about the service. What a waste of money and energy = I was so excited! Now I can't...
Read moreI usually don't like vegan food because it was invented by the Commie homosexuals but I must make an exception to this place right here. You see, when I was just a child, my father used to beat me all day long. When he would finally stop, I would be filled with this intense sense of relief and peace. That is what eating a meal here has done for me. I feel at peace in all sense of the word. I used to have nightmares of my father dressed as a clown hitting my balls with a squeaky hammer. I would wake up in a cold sweat screaming "NO DADDY! LEAVE MY BALLS ALONE!". Of course, my girlfriend would be started by this and I would have to calm her down before realizing that she was nothing more than a ball meatloaf that I had put googly eyes on. This was my routine every night for oh so long until I finally dined at VSPOT Express. I wandered in half drunk after returning from the sea, I stunk of whiskey and urine and begged for God to kill me. The man behind the counter suggested that I order the Vegan burger. I rubbed my chin and pissed my pants several times more before asking him for this vegan burger and then I waited. What I brought to me was the succulent flesh of some animal that was not an animal. An animal that had long ago evolved into the new state of being. I swallowed eat bite the way a child might eat candy. Looking around I witnessed the world becoming a brighter place and I felt the weight of my nightmares leave me. For the first time in twenty years I slept without dreaming of my father destroying my balls. If this restaurant can do that for me, then just imagine what it...
Read moreI can't say enough amazing things about my experience with VSPOT last night.
The food completely blew me away. The food came out quick, and it was bursting with flavor and NOTHING disappointed. Being vegan, there's usually one or two menu items that fall short but everything was a hit! Personally the two of us got the korean cauliflower wings, nacho fries, empanadas, and the chips and salsa. Down to the desserts, there was great variety, everything was delicious and exactly what we were looking for.
Hospitality: I called and asked to reserve a spot in the restaurant for a surprise party. During COVID my friends and I are being incredibly safe, and so we all got tested/vaccinated prior to Saturday. They let my friends set up balloons and a party table, and even let my friends hide behind the curtain as me and my boyfriend walked into the restaurant. It was one of the most memorable things that has happened in the pandemic, and honestly made such an impact for all of us emotionally, to be able to be together for a night. They played some music, and it was the first time me and my partner had danced together out of the house in over a year. We literally got teary eyed after we left.
Thank you guys for making his birthday so wonderful... I know you guys went above and beyond to make this happen and we all appreciate it so much. Whenever anyone asks, this place has now become my number one recommended vegan spot...
