5 stars - Incredible food, thoughtful service, and stylish vibe. Perfect for dinner with friends or a chill date night.
Service: The customer service at Hole In The Wall was exceptional. Our server, Anthony, was incredibly sweet and made the experience feel personal and fun. He gave us honest recommendations -- what he liked, what he didn't -- and explained why, which helped us order confidently. We had a dinner reservation but were about 30 minutes late (getting ready took longer than expected), and the staff was so kind and flexible. They just told us to come when we could -- that kind of grace is rare and appreciated.
Food: Everything we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. I ordered the Hanger Steak ($32), and it was cooked beautifully -- flavorful, not greasy, and surprisingly light. I left feeling satisfied but not overly full or bloated.
My friends ordered: The OG Burger ($21) with sweet potato fries - I tried a bite and it was seriously flavorful. One of the better burgers I've tasted in a while. Spicy Shrimp Rigatoni Pasta ($22) - This one tasted like heaven. The shrimp was perfectly crispy, the pasta cooked just right, and the creamy sauce tied it all together.
I also asked if they could make matcha, even though it was only listed on the brunch menu -- and they did! That extra bit of flexibility and accommodation really impressed me.
Ambience & Dress Code: The restaurant is stylish and cute without being overly formal. It's definitely a place where you'd want to dress "casual cute." Denim or elevated basics work well -- I'd personally avoid sweats or anything too ripped. It's a great spot for dinner with friends, but it's also date- and family-friendly.
Final Thoughts: This is a true 5-star spot for me. Between the excellent food, flexible staff, and cozy-chic atmosphere, I'd 100% return. Whether you're visiting NYC or just want a memorable dinner out, Hole in the Wall- Flatiron is a...
Read moreThey don't take reservations for brunch, and we walked into an extremely packed place for a Sunday brunch at 12:40 pm and were lucky to be seated in a comfortable table for 6 towards the backend of the restaurant. They have really good outdoor (covered) seating as well with enough heat lamps installed on the ceiling. Noise level was average and you are welcomed by a very friendly staff.
We ordered some hot beverages for the table and it felt like they were severely understaffed because the service was extremely slow. It took close to 20 minutes for us to get our coffees and tea, and another 40 minutes to get our main courses which included an Impossibly Good Burger ($19), Wild Mushroom Toast ($19), Chili Scrambled Eggs with Avocado ($21), and Pulled Pork Benedict with Bacon ($21).
My impossibly good burger was actually quite good and the impossible patty was seasoned well and had a nice layer of melted pepper jack cheese on it. It also comes with fries and I got the sweet potato fries instead of regular fries at no extra cost - slightly heavily salted. The only thing I did not particularly enjoy was the onions, tomatoes, and lattice were cold. There were some issues with the food, but the staff was kind enough to take off that specific item from our check, for which I specifically give an extra star! Very rare to see in these CV-19 days!
While the staff is friendly and were apologetic for the delay in service, service was quite slow. We waited for over half an hour for our beverage and food orders. Having said that - the food overall was quite delicious and we might definitely give them another try at their...
Read moreWe were doing a video for Instagram, and this was the only restaurant nearby the pier. We stopped in and sat down. The first thing we noticed was the salt and pepper shakers were really dirty. We ordered food and the waitress. Alice was very condescending and rude. I tried to ask her to put raw onion on a hamburger instead of the cooked onion and she told me they couldn’t do that. You can’t just not cook it? But OK. Then we got the food and it was average. It was not terrible, but it wasn’t outstanding. Very expensive. Our check for two adults and one child came to $80. We sat there and waited and waited for quite a while waiting for her to come back to get us a refill on our drink. We had to ask someone else and he never came back with it either. At the end she came back so that we could pay and we asked about a refill and they said they charge extra for a refill. She got very snotty with my husband saying no they don’t give free refills that things cost money in the city! Yes, we understand things cost money but just about everywhere we’ve gone. They’ve given free refills. Then she brings her little machine so we can use our card and try to tell my husband how to use it. He kept telling her his chip didn’t work and she kept insisting that it did. We tried to pay with a QR code at the table, but she wanted to stand over us and have us pay with her watching. Either to make sure we actually paid or to make sure she actually got a tip! We are typically very good tippers and will tip 25% But we tipped approximately 10% because it was terrible service. Do not...
