After dining here for 50+ times I unfortunately am finally writing this review and feel truly bad for saying don’t bother visiting this place.
We live in the neighborhood and last summer when Mr. Varun (I believe that’s how his name is spelled) was still a general manager here things were ok and we used to eat here on a weekly basis. Past year or so we have tried giving this place quite a few chances, but it unfortunately never goes anywhere good.
The food is always extremely late and even though the servers are sooo nice the service lacks so many steps and the show is just not ran correctly. For example serving cold butter with bread in a french restaurant is first step where they go wrong. And I mean like fridge cold butter you can not spread on the bread so what’s the point. (They do charge for the butter though). 90% of the time kitchen sends out our order wrong. They truly lack consistency - for some reason the french fries are either great or horrible. Unfortunately mostly horrible with getting only tiny little burnt potato pieces. Yesterday somehow they were actually great.
The pinnacle of our visits was last night when we were served half-melted ice cream that eventually became soup. And to be clearly understood the ice-cream immediately had a foamy, melted like texture which means it stood out for a bit or was not made properly. We did not bother complaining as the table next to us experienced the same and we overheard the manager saying that “this ice cream melts super fast”. Even if that was the case, which let’s be honest is not, then I would expect the manager not to allow ice cream like that to be served at an establishment that has a name like Jean-George on it.
We are probably officially giving up going to this place unless we see some kind of change happen again in near future in how the place is managed. They charge well over $30 for mains and for that price point the management of this restaurant should truly be sad for how the...
Read moreI rarely write reviews let a lot bad one but i just had to warn anyone with the intention of coming here.
I went to the French restaurant Brassiere with my family of 5 for a special occasion. Let me start with the fact that we went to reserve in person and asked if there would be any problems with us staying late because we wanted a reservation for 8:30. We were told that it would not be a problem and we would not be rushed out or made to feel so. As we sit down and ask for the wine list and a suggestion of wine, we ended up not liking the suggestion and asked to try something else. Our waiter was immediately impatient and irritated because of this. He was also rushing us throughout the courses. When asked to substitute a gin in my cucumber martini, he did not ask what I wanted instead and used a gin that made my drink $6 more expensive with out letting us know. Later on in the evening while trying to serve a sparkling wine across the table (when there was space to go around the table) he spilled and shattered the glass on two of my guests. While cleaning up there was little to no remorse, rather he was annoyed. Come time for desserts, our order was doubled without us knowing. Thinking it was a compensation for the spilled drink, we didn’t say anything. However, the bill reflected otherwise and included an unordered dessert, an overcharged drink, and zero compensation for the spill. In addition to an already unpleasant dining experience, when we asked to have one last glass of wine, our server said he would ask the manager. He then falsely claimed to check with the manager and denied our request. We certainly do not recommend nor will we return…and the prices were...
Read moreThis review is for T. Brassiere. The service was fantastic from the beginning to the end. The host was very courteous, our waiter was friendly and helpful and the rest of the staff constantly refilled our water and asked how we were doing.
We ordered the Puff Pastry burger and the Seared Hake with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. The puff pastry was interesting but I prefer a brioche bun. The burger patty itself was fantastic. Super moist, buttery, seasoned perfectly and the flavors were spot on. If the bun was actually a brioche I would actually recommend the burger to everyone and make it a must go burger. The Hake was also quite tasty and not heavy. Super flakey fish to go with some nice veggies. Great dish if you want something not too hearty or heavy and love fish.
We ordered the puff pastry vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce for dessert but I found the puff pastry got sogggy, too much chocolate overpowering everything and a lot of whip cream instead of ice cream. I would skip that
I ordered the bourbon Concord grape cocktail with aperol and bitters. It was a fantastic bourbon cocktail a nice balance of sweetness and spirit. I don’t usually see grape cocktails so it was interesting to see. My partner order an aperol spritz which was spot on. We find aperol spritz usually a miss unless it’s made at an Italian restaurant but this was done right.
Would definitely come back and recommend...
