09/12/23 - thought I would try again, to give another chance to a restaurant I used to frequent. Called for take out, and the person on the phone couldn't understand my order - it isn't like I was ordering in English. Indian dishes. After 10 minutes, I just said goodbye and ordered from Bombay. I would have rather had the food at Taj Majal, but if the person on the phone can't understand 2 standard items (nothing special order,) I cannot order from them. I walked by, and the restaurant is empty. Bombay isn't. There is a reason for this. Bombay will be here long after Taj Majal is gone, for bad service. _______________ I have been coming to take Mahal for over 2 years, one or two times a month. The food has always been good - usually very good. The service has always been good too. That isn't what happened today. The waiter took the order. After that, we never saw the waiter again. The guy who delivered food, etc, was young and didn't speak English. I got meat samosas, chicken vindaloo, and mughlai paratha. My friend who came with me recently had eaten, and ordered a soup to go, which the waiter said to ask for it before leaving. Papadom and the three chutneys that are usually brought to the table came. First red flag was when we came here at 1:00pm the place is just EMPTY. the service here is TRASH, the food is okay, underwhelmed when it comes to flavor and the authenticity of the food, and unprofessional. When we sat down we asked what was there recommended food, as “foodies” we try to follow the restos recommendation but the guy just said “oh just look at the menu and read it”… like really ? thats how u treat your customer ? second when the waiter here in the picture was trying to pour us some water, He just splashed it and it didnt even bother. The way he serves the food is like he’s annoyed. The food however is okay. Alot less spicy than we expected, a LOT less flavorful than we expected. The mango lassie was overriped. I suggest you take your hard earned money somewhere else. They dont deserve the 1 star. more like zero. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

A true authentic Indian cuisine restaurant! I rarely ever try Indian cuisine, but after this restaurant, I will DEFINITELY come back for more. For one thing, the interior of this place is beautiful! It truly makes me feel as if I’m INSIDE the Taj Mahal. It adds onto the authentic vibe of the establishment. This establishment gave free Papad (bread) and free dipping sauces on the side in the beginning, and free Firni (rice pudding) at the end. They were both absolutely delicious. I ordered the Shahjahani Biryani and the Chicken Shree Mangal and they tasted really good. I really liked the Biryani and the curry chicken. The bill was extremely affordable as well, taking into account the amazing interior, the freebies, and how well the staff treated us. All in all, delicious food and great service

*updated my review from a year ago. This place use to be my favorite restaurant but everything changed recently. One of the previous waiter opened up a local indian restaurant nearby. I have been coming here for several years.

The reason for the terrible review is the management. The waiter took my order and the chief mix up the order and made my children dish very spicey and my order not spicy at all. Once the waiter found out, the waiter and the chief had a huge altercation. Instead of making a new dish as the waiter claimed, the chief just added yogurt to the dish to decrease the spiciness of it. My children still couldn't eat it. After two attempts of diluting the spiciness instead of a new dish, the waiter insist that there is nothing they can do. The worst service I ever got here. The quality of the food has changed. There is another comment that I read almost had the same review that use to be a...

I came here off and on for many years and visited now after a while away. It was one of the most terrible dinners I had in my life. Tough, rubbery shrimp vindaloo. Sickly sweet, watery chickpea dish. Dry and stringy butter chicken. The oil was separating from the sauces in the dishes. Watery and limp cabbage. Watery, loose lentils with only a few lentils floating in a liquid. Tandoori chicken tasted off. I was able to eat some by putting the three sauces on that they give you when you arrive, but the holder for the three sauces was broken and almost tipping over. We waited a long time for the main courses and even longer for them to clear the plates (we were there for almost 2 hours!). They did not give us the rice which we asked to take home. It was cold and drafty inside as each patron entered and sometimes left both doors open. I just hope I do not get food poisoning tonight! I will never...
