We made a reservation and were promptly seated. It was not very busy so a reservation may not have been needed. We waited about 10 mins before a server came to greet us and give menus. They did not bring water right away. We had to flag the waiter down to then place our order. He did not go over the menu or make any recommendations. We ordered the Salmon Tartar and Ceasar Salad to start. The Salmon Tartar was good, but under seasoned and overwhelmed by the fried leeks on top. The lettuce in the Ceasar had rusty bits on it, but the dressing was very good. The pasta was the best part of our meal, both the rigatoni and cacio el pepe were perfectly el dente, well seasoned and had tons of flavour. The tiramisu was ok. The service was not remarkable, to be fair, maybe it was an off night for that server. The staff person who was clearing our table, he kept a watchful eye, was chatty and cleared things quickly. Overall it was an OK experience, but I'm not sure I would go back given the other options in NYC for a similar...
Read moreWhile I was very excited to go to this restaurant as the reviews were overall good good and the food looked good online I was very disappointed in the service, we made a reservation for 7:15 and showed up at 7:15 but they failed to have a table open until 8:30 they sat us at the bar for us to order drinks and failed to take our drink order for about 20 minutes eventually they sat us us front of house in the worst seat in the restaurant and took our food order the food wasn’t bad, a little bland maybe but not worth the high price and poor service, while I understand the restaurant was very busy but we made a reservation in advance and there was no attempt to apologize or comp our drinks from the restaurant instead we were met with excuses and overall rudeness. I understand the stress of working in a restaurant but this was supposed to be a splurge on excellent service and experience and was very disappointed to have chosen a place where the service was incredibly...
Read moreWARNING. Be alert of the "Bait & Switch" at Taralluci E Vino.
Last Saturday (7/19), we had dinner at the NoMad location.
Long after leaving Tarallucci, noticed a $48 charge for 2 glasses of "Simcic Sauvignon Blanc". This was not the wine ordered. In fact, Simcic was not even listed on the menu. There was only ONE CHOICE for Sauvignon Blanc (Kossler) at $15.
I contacted the restaurant the next business day. The manager acknowledged that Simcic was the "special" wine for the night. He apologized that the server (Marta) did not properly communicate the switch (oops, I mean change). The manager did not offer anything beyond the apology. This was an unacceptable response ...but it was my fault for not thoroughly reviewing the bill. (shame on me ... sarcasm).
This was a first .... and LAST TIME visit especially since the overall service was also lacking. Food was good but there are many other NYC restaurants of comparable quality and...
