Moved into a Studio unit on July 2019.
Pros: Clean, nice and high quality amenities - the wooden flooring, cabinets and kitchen-top are actually good quality. Very happy with the room itself. The pool, sauna, lounge area, gym and yoga studios are great as well. It's an actual luxury building, unlike some of those faux-luxury ones with fancy exterior but low-quality interior. Spacious bathroom - I know some people really want this - bathroom is very big, well lit and I'm very happy with it. Very nice and kind staff members. I love interacting with them and they always greet me with a smile (: Subway 6 is right below the building - as someone who visits SoHo often, this is an awesome perk. Maintenance requests are fulfilled very quickly - awesome!
Cons: Biggest reason for my 3-star, there's 0 sunlight in my room because it's an inward facing studio unit. Basically a huge gray brick building blocking the view, and all four sides are blocked with tall buildings. Feels like a prison. Units with street-view are more expensive. This is partially my fault, due to COVID I wasn't able to visit the room beforehand so I didn't know the sunlight situation was this bad. I wouldn't have moved in if I knew the sunlight/view situation was this bad.
If you're moving into one of the cheaper studio units, I'd recommend you to check the room during daytime. I can't really tell whether it's 2pm or 2am by looking outside :/
Overall: If views/sunlight doesn't matter for you. 10/10 recommend this community! Honestly having a great year in this apartment, just need to take a walk outside often to get my daily does of sunlight.
Pictures: Images during peak sunlight time (1:30pm) - as you can see sky is perfectly blue but the view is...
Read moreA true gem of NYC! After having a horrible experience at a large building during my first year in the City I almost randomly visited the Prism when visiting options to move. I was instantly convinced, there are few buildings in Manhattan that perform this well on almost every aspect for the price range it's in. The location is outstanding right on top of the six line and near the NQR trains. The area is also lively with numerous restaurants and bars as well as near the Flatiron district. Furthermore, the service is outstanding, never seen something like this in the City. Every employee of the building is polite beyond any expectations in the usually dull NYC. I was impressed by the true concern by the residents well being 24/7. Another great plus is the size of the building, with only 22 floors and few apartments per floor the amount of people is always reasonable, no elevator jams, little to no wait for packages. Lastly, the amenities offered by the building are comparable to any high-end subscription gym. It includes a lap pool, modern machines, weights, spinning cycles and even classes. I am sad to leave NYC after having a wonderful experience at the Prism, it really became an oasis in the chaos...
Read morePrism has been a great place to live. The entire administrative process from beginning to end was smooth and efficient. Leasing staff (Sam, Noah) are very friendly and respond promptly to all inquiries. The concierge staff is friendly and helpful and do a fantastic job managing packages (you should see the volume of deliveries, it's mind blowing). The building itself is beautiful and well maintained and the apartments are well designed and finished to a level that I would expect for the rental prices. Maintenance staff (Marius) take care of requests quickly and professionally. The amenity space is the best I have seen in Manhattan in this price point (pool, sauna, steam room, huge gym, pelotons, yoga studio, kids space, etc, etc.). Finally, the location cannot be beat; its literally on top of the 6 and 2 stops from Grand Central or Union Square making it easy to get anywhere in the city. I've hardly used a cab living here for a year unless I'm going to LaGuardia. There is a Whole Foods next door, plenty of restaurants within a 10 min walk and Madison Square Park is so close and lovely. If I wasn't moving out of state I would continue...
