The Chicken Shack is a small, family-owned restaurant in Rego Park, Queens. They serve a variety of fried chicken dishes, as well as burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I visited The Chicken Shack for lunch recently and ordered the fried chicken basket. The chicken was cooked well and was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. However, I found the chicken to be a little dry. The sides that came with the basket were also good, but I was disappointed that they charged for each sauce. I think the prices for the sauces were a little too high. Overall, I had a good experience at The Chicken Shack, but I would give it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 stars because of the dry chicken and the high prices for the sauces.
Here are some additional details about my experience:
The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The prices were reasonable for the type of food that was served. I would recommend The Chicken Shack to anyone looking for a casual dining experience with good food. However, I would advise them to ask for the chicken to be cooked moister and to skip the sauces, unless they are willing to...
Read moreI love love love the food. This is my favorite chicken I’ve had. My issues are with the service. I usually order for myself but I wanted to get my husband who is vegetarian something on the way home and since I was going to pick it up it was just easier to order from one place. I ordered a Mediterranean wrap and put in the notes, “remove chicken to make vegetarian”. My own dish has notes as well that the store followed but they ignored the note about no chicken. When contacted, they refused a refund and only offered a discount for the next time I visit. My husband can’t eat it since he’s vegetarian and I’m not going to eat it because I don’t like the other ingredients of the wrap. So here we are.
Just be aware that they apparently don’t give refunds. Otherwise, very delicious chicken and unfortunately I will be going back anyway because it’s just that...
Read moreThis evening (10/25/24), I ordered the 1/2 chicken value meal ($13.49 plus tax) which comes with one side (I ordered rice) and pita bread. I walk into the restaurant to pick up my food and the worker behind the counter is looking at me weirdly and has a really bad attitude. My bag feels light and I open it up and its a 1/4 chicken and there is no Pita bread (see photos). I told the worker that I think there was a mistake and he tells me that he gave me 1/2 chicken and they ran out of pita bread. The guy was very hostile and kept insisting it was a 1/2 chicken and I decided it wasn't worth arguing and I was hungry so I just took the food and left. What makes matters worse is that the chicken was dry and had no taste. Additionally, the rice was overcooked and mushy. I will never go there again and my advice is to stay far away...
