We decided to check out The Copper Still for drinks and snacks on a Friday night, meeting up for a double date with another couple. One couple came from East Harlem, the other from Brooklyn, so the East Village seemed like the perfect halfway point. The city was buzzing with energy—it was the first nice Friday of 2025, and the vibe in the air was fantastic.
We arrived around 7 pm and initially sat at the bar, but soon noticed an empty table outside. The weather was unusually warm for April, so we moved to the outdoor table to make the most of it. Unfortunately, this is where things went south. The waitress for the outdoor section didn’t seem thrilled that we had chosen the table, and when we asked for water, she rolled her eyes, but eventually brought it over.
A few minutes later, we tried to place a food order with her. We also mentioned that we had an open tab at the bar and would be happy to close it out based on her recommendations. Instead of a polite response, she snapped, "Go order yourself from the bar." We were shocked by how rude and dismissive she was. After that, she never came back to check if we needed anything else—no offer for more drinks, no inquiry about a food order. We were completely ignored.
We flagged down the manager to address the situation, and while he apologized, he explained that the waitress was "having a bad day." However, he didn't offer any further resolution or attempt to make things right. It's a shame, because with so many other bars and restaurants to choose from in NYC, we had high hopes for this place. Ultimately, we decided to leave and had a great time at other nearby spots. Sadly, this experience means we won’t be returning to The...

Overwhelmed by the "Big City"?! Swing by the Still. Don't understand dark liquor or whiskey? Try out the bartender reccos at the still. Looking for a place to banter with friends? Bring them by the Still. Just want to pick a corner and have a solitary premium - arguably top 5 - Guinness this side of the pond? There are 4 clutch spots in... You guessed it. The still.
This isn't Disney Land but the comradery you feel when you walk in the door is immediately backed up by the quality of the homey and -i'll be it - consice menu. The fries are flawless, the lamb burger is phenomenally approachable, and the chef even brings in his own zucchini spiral thing to make you whatever vegan idea he has at one of the newest Irish pub hangouts in the whole City.
Bottom line, you should fee left out if you haven't been there yet... But you WILL feel welcomed every time you walk through that door.
See ya at the...
Read moreUsed to be a really fun local bar with a good happy hour. Over the past year the staff has turned over too many times to count. The ever rotating menagerie of bartenders and waitresses have been of lower and lower quality these past few months.
The place is rarely even 1/2 full except for the weekends now. They don't even play the radio. It's weird they are going for depressing dive bar vibes, I don't know who that appeals to, but it doesn't seem to be working well for them.
The last time I was in there, which will probably be my last time ever, there was a middle aged man with a child who could not have been older than 10. He got her a order of french fries, then proceed to get absolutely sloshed on beer and whiskey. What bar over serves like that, AND allows a child inside? It was also about 4pm in the afternoon while this...
