On a whim, my friend and I stopped by this pizza shop while searching for a place that served high-quality pizza with vegetarian options. From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond, guiding us through their menu and offering thoughtful recommendations. As we chatted with the team and the owner, Ben, we learned about the shop’s rich history—an impressive legacy for such a small establishment.
The food was nothing short of fantastic, served piping hot and packed with flavor. We tried a variety of items, including a margarita slice, a pepperoni and sausage slice, buffalo chicken wings, and a few other dishes. The pepperoni and sausage slice was a standout, with a smoky richness from the pepperoni that paired perfectly with the sausage. It wasn’t greasy at all, which was a pleasant surprise, and it left me feeling satisfied without the heaviness greasy pizza often brings. The margarita pizza was equally impressive, with fresh, flavorful ingredients and you can really taste the cheese flavor.
My personal favorite, however, was the buffalo chicken wings. Unlike wings from other places, these were truly spicy, tender, and served fresh from the kitchen. Ben shared that everything is made from scratch, and it really shows in the quality and flavor of the food.
Despite being located in the city, the prices were reasonable—neither cheap nor overly expensive. The value for the quality you receive is excellent, leaving you feeling like you've gotten "bang for your buck."
Overall, this place exceeded my expectations in every way. I’d rate it a 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone. I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreExcellent customer service and great ny handmade pizza freshly prepared daily by the guys. This is a great example of something that for alot of people is a dying institution. Years ago ny pizzerias of this quality were widespread, now that the rents are inflating and the affordable is becoming gourmet and chic, it is a challenge to find a good slice on the fly. Well here is a real pizzeria. The guys know their craft and have a great understanding of their ovens and timings and can get your slice and pie just right, as long as you let them know how you like it. Seeing them in the early morning is a display of all the years of experience and expertise. It gave me an appreciation for the shop and the skillu they make pizza with. Handmade and very precisely crafted. Really good at this. The added relaxed and accommodating attitude of the owners /operators is what seals the deal. The price is definitely higher than what you expect but the quality is good and the location makes it understandable that they pass on the cost of doing business in NYC fidi. You won't be...
Read moreWhen we arrived at Battery Park, NY I set a pizza restaurant search and saw the great ratings for Underground Pizza and recommended my family and I eat there. There’s a lot of construction off Broadway right now, so the Yelp map directions threw us off, but we ended up passing the New York Stock Exchange building and enjoyed a few nice buildings along the way. Once we arrived we were immediately greeted by one of the servers and given the chance to order. We were pretty hungry so we ordered 5 different slices of pizza to try a little of everything and share. We asked if they could cut the slices in thirds and they said, “Of course”! The pizza wasn’t greasy and every slice we had hit the spot! Then to our surprise the owner, Ben, introduced himself and gave us a great story about how Underground Pizza came to be. Great local spot, with great service and staff! Will definitely be back on my next trip to New...
