Van Leeuwen Ice Cream — Restaurant in New York

I took my family there because I usually love Van leeuwen Ice Cream, and it was such a bad experience!! First of all, the ice cream does not taste the same than others locations I have been to; and then to make the experience worst, you have this unpleasant people working there. The shop was EMPTY when we got there, I ordered 5 ice creams and it took the person serving (a big dark skin woman) like 20 min to prepare it (and it was just 5 - 2 flavors and whipped cream- cups); the think is, she was very busy talking about her private stuff with her other coworker (a tall guy with very nice long acrylic nails and beautiful eyebrows). Plus it seems that she was so tired that she was saying outloud at 8:30pm that she was done after us! After waiting 20 min to get our ice creams, she tells me that she ran out of the whipped cream (which I have paid already) and if I could wait just a couple of minutes (more waiting...) so she could refill it (I already had the ice cream melting in my hands :/ ) So I patiently waited and it became like 10 more min!!! Of course because she kept her conversation with the other guy and they were so distracted gossiping, all of a sudden they dropped the container being filled with the whipped cream and it exploded getting everything around messed up.... after 20 min waiting for the freaking whipped cream and my ice cram almost done, she tells me that because of the inconvenient with the cointainer she is not going to be able to serve it to me so if I just want something else!!!! Reallyyyy???? Definitely not coming back there!! Worth to say they got like 30 more people after us and these two didnt bother at all to stop their gossiping and it was just a asian girl taking care of everybody... felt bad for her. You should definitely check your cameras and make sure lazy employees are not messing up...

I always love going to one of their locations. This location is a few shops away from the H&M. It's a bit hard to find because the mall is laid out very strangely. The aesthetic is very cute and has a mint green exterior. There is limited seating in the front. The ice cream bar is in the middle and there is an ice cream pint freezer in the back.

Their ice cream never disappoints. I love the salted caramel (which comes in a vegan form as well). It's extremely creamy and smooth. I love it!

I tried the chocolate fudge brownie, which actually has some bits of brownie in it so the ice cream itself has more of a texture than their standard ice cream.

I also really love their early grey flavor. I have a pint at home that I love taking a few spoonfuls from every now and then. It's hard to not eat the entire pint all at once.

If you haven't tried Van Leeuwen's ice cream, please go to one of their locations to grab a cone! I cannot...

I recently visited this location and unfortunately had a very negative experience that left me feeling racially profiled. The server was dismissive and rude from the start of my visit. When I asked for Oreo topping, she sighed as if I was inconveniencing her. Later, when I said “excuse me” to get her attention, she responded with “what?” in a disrespectful tone. When I expressed that I was offended and that her behavior was not okay, she responded that she didn’t care, kissed her teeth, and mumbled inappropriate comments under her breath about people of color.

No customer should ever be treated in this way especially in a place of business where respect and courtesy should be the standard. This experience was deeply upsetting and disappointing, and I hope management takes this seriously and ensures that no other customer is...
