once...and NEVER again...

To anticipate it why it got two and not one star..the meat was qualitatively very good..the service..catastrophic!!!!!

We wanted to spend a nice evening and end it with a wonderful dinner.

It started with the chairs coming down (holes and stains on the chairs!).

After that we had bread with butter as an introduction. That was the first disappointment. Instead of the usual way of convincing people with warm, homemade bread in such places, cold, old (dried at the ends) and ridiculous pieces of bread came to the table. Not so bad, because we didn't come for the bread but for the steak, but what doesn't work at all is that the bread is just abruptly cleared without asking if we were finished at all.

Then we ordered the steak (Filet Mignon) "Medium" and it came raw! After a complaint the waiter took the steak with him and put it in the pan again. After that it was "medium done", the one of my girlfriend was perfect (hence the 2nd one). But the taste was very good.

Now the most annoying of all. Around us every 2 minutes a waiter ghostly and looked at our plates and give us a feeling to finish eating quickly. NOGO!!!! After the third time we asked him if we could finish eating in peace without him constantly looking at our plates. He just wanted to see if we need anything he gave us as an answer. That came everything else than so herpber, since before already 2 (other) waiters had inquired in this connection. Then the annoying waiter came back and simply poured this chlorinated tap water into our glasses although we had a water from the bottle (10$ per bottle!) that shows me that there is NO agreement/communication between the waiters!!!! We were completely perplexed.

When our, I say so, main waiter cleared the plates he asked if we wanted a dessert, which we denied. Then another waiter came to sweep the table and put 2 dessert cards on the table, whereupon the next (another) 20s later came with the bill and took the desert cards again.

When we expressed our displeasure at the tip by simply giving 5% (I didn't want to give any!) the waiter who took the payment with him came back to count the money we had put in ourselves. Afterwards he pointed out to us with his finger that it is more normal 18-20%, as stated on the bill. He didn't want to know why or the reason for this, which is usual in a restaurant that regards itself as exclusive, but only to dust off his tip.

A very very very disappointing evening that we had never expected.

There will certainly be better steak houses in NY.

Absolutely NO...

After landing in NYC from a flight and catching a late night table in time for dinner, which we had pre booked I might add. Reception at the host point was frosty, on walking to the table the only exchange was “the kitchen is closing soon please order quickly” Followed by us then waiting for menus, once we finally had menus the waiter proceeded to wait directly at the table saying “I’ll wait, I have no where else to go” … other than to give your guests a moment to review the menu, discuss together without you watching us. We had to actually ask for the waiter to leave the table so we could have 1 minute to discuss what we wanted. We genuinely ordered within 8 minutes of sitting down and we had waited 5 minutes for the menus!

We were advised to order small so we didn’t feel sick… what a way to chat your guests through the menu.

We ordered, skipped starters and shared a sirloin steak, medium rare, a fries and broccoli. The steak wasn’t medium rare, but in fact rare. The broccoli was hard and the fries felt like they had been reheated.

No check back, no how is your meal? Which we would have appreciated as the steak wasn’t right and we also found a blue piece of plastic within the broccoli, which clearly the broccoli portion had come out from and they missed the part they had cut when opening in a rush to speed things up… When I mentioned the feedback to the waiter, he just got the bill and said nothing, I had to press and ask if he had showed the kitchen the blue plastic for him to say no one from the kitchen was there… so they wouldn’t have been able to redo a steak if someone had complaint - madness!

If you don’t want late night tables, do not meek your reservation open online for people to make a booking for 22:15 to feel unwelcome, receive poor standard service and food.

We had been so excited to return as we had dined at the restaurant 3 years prior and sadly a total opposite experience today, one I...

Best steak in Manhattan but be careful of the check! Took my team here last night and had a decent meal. Waiters tend to suggest ordering a little too much steak so keep that in mind. Everything is cooked to perfection. The staff seems to prey on big groups so be very careful. We ordered one dessert, crème brulee, and everyone but me ordered coffee. Crème brûlée never showed up. Check came and I reviewed. Was surprised to see a variety of things we didn’t order listed. When I brought to the waiter’s attention they were dismissive and defensive and insisted other people had ordered these items when I clearly had done all ordering and only one person ordered dessert. I then asked the other people at the table if I was mistaken and perhaps they ordered something. They confirmed they hadn’t. I then insisted the items we didn’t order be removed. They took the check and brought a new one with the items removed but combined the two bottles of wine we had into one and added another. Mind you this was no two buck chuck. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice??? Not so fast! At that point I just laughed and said this is quite a racket! These people are hardworking guys and nice people but they clearly have a racket going overcharging groups who are paying with expense accounts that they assume are drinking a lot and not paying attention. Fortunately I was paying the bill and am not a heavy drinker so I saw exactly what was going on. I’d like to think this was an honest mistake but the audacity of the second check with an equally glaring overcharge was the straw that broke the camel’s back here. Be...
