The upper east location is NOT clean. Had spicy tofu and spicy beef noodle from this location on the evening of Oct 10, felt nauseous right after eating. Then the next day, loss of appetite, diarrhea 10 times. Had to rush to the ER, stool test positive for E.coli and rotavirus. I used to like this place, but something's definitely messed up recently. Update after owner's response: Hey Jason, I'm calling you out! Firstly, your comments about washing hands is both condescending and ridiculous. I'm not a 3-year-old, don't need you to teach me proper hygiene. Also, I was eating with chopsticks. Jason, if the source of the infection really came from my hand, would you please enlighten me on how the heck did I get food poisoning without my hands even touching the food? Perhaps in Jason's world, bacteria just magically teleport? Good for you, go write some science fiction then. Secondly, why do you think the hospital staff never told me that symptoms can appear anytime within 72 hours after getting infected? I tell you what, they did tell me EXACTLY that. But, this is NOT the first time I got sick from eating at this location. First picture is a receipt showing me ordering on Sept 30. Felt super nauseous + multiple diarrhea the next day, no appetite whatsoever, so I went to a clinic and they gave me ondansetron (second pic) to ease my symptoms. You see Jason, I'm not like you, I don't jump to conclusions and assuming things. I did NOT blame it on your food at that time, EXACTLY BECAUSE the doctor told me that symptoms don't necessarily show up right after getting infected. So, 10 days later, I went again (lost the receipt but purchase record on the 3rd image). I had similar symptoms (nausea and diarrhea), but more severe. Stool test results (4th image) showing E. coli and Rotavirus detected. Now, given that I had similar symptoms both times eating the SAME food, the doctor made an educated conclusion that the food from that location is NOT clean. I take the subway EVERYDAY and was fine for many years. I ate at your place twice in two weeks and got sick twice in two weeks. Jason, do you still think I got the food poisoning from the subway?? Jason, judging from your previous reply, I know exactly what you are gonna say: "Perhaps your guts are just too sensitive, you just can't handle our AWESOME spicy sauce!" Ah, no no no~ I in fact consume spicy food (and oily food) on a regular basis, and I never had nausea or severe diarrhea like this before. So STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM, ADDRESS IT! The food you are serving is contaminated sometimes, if you are a decent person, you SHOULD be concerned! I'm a young man, I can take some beatings fine. But what if a pregnant lady gets sick from your food? What about a fragile old man? What about a cancer patient? Think about it! Thirdly, why are you implying that I'm targeting your place because it's a Chinese business? I myself am Chinese, I'm more than happy to support my fellow Chinese brothers and sisters if they are indeed operating businesses that improve people's lives. But looks like your business is making people's lives miserable (my life at least). I lost 5kg and felt a lot weaker after getting sick twice eating at your place! And you want me to not call you out just because you are Chinese? Lastly, why are you (or maybe one of your employees) checking my LinkedIn profile? Doesn't matter who I am or what I do, your restaurant has food safety issue that needs to be addressed. Your time is better spent improving your kitchen's cleanness than stalking my LinkedIn or writing condescending replies. Initially, I was not gonna write an essay for a Google review. I was hoping you can take it seriously and ensure food safety. But since your reply was so condescending AND you showed no sign of concern for food safety, I feel obliged to fight back and provide more details so that others do not get food poison like I do. I hope you do the right thing and don't make more people sick!

TLDR: Great food, nice ambience. At about 7pm on a weekend they were out of liang pi (cold noodles), or at least that’s what the ordering system indicated. So I ordered a N4, which was pulled pork hand pulled noodles in a vinegar/soy sauce mixture. I asked for mild spice. I waited about 5-10 minutes. Turns out the workers misplaced my order so I was waiting longer than I had to but that was no big deal. The noodles were thick and chewy. I saw the hand pulling in action. Never disappointed. The sauce was sour and salty, but not spicy. Thank goodness for the chili oil. The pulled pork was a little dry and flavorless but dropping it in the sauce solved the problem. It was my first time trying their pulled pork and this type of sauce. I still recommend/prefer the lamb in the cumin/spiced oil sauce (which I think is N1). I also got a Sour Hawberry “Tea,” which was more like a juice. It was more sweet than sour. Refreshing though. Most ordering is done through a kiosk right in front of the counter. If you have a card, use it. Otherwise a staff member can help with cash. The kiosk was large and had language options, photos, and an easy to navigate UI. Drinks were self-grab. Keep the receipt so you can check the number when they call it. The kitchen was open with a barrier between the seating area and the length of it. There was a bathroom in the corner of the shop. Seating is arranged in long communal rows with napkin dispensers, their “famous” chili oil, and vinegar dispersed on the tables. There was a shelf full of chili oil and cookbooks on display. The space was modern and well lit. There were alot of takeouts and dine-ins. Attracted a diverse customer base. Overall, I definitely recommend any of the shops in the chain. Quality is consistent and assured. Food was delicious and authentic.

Quaint little place on a quiet street on the Upper East Side. All seating is at "bars" so to speak, so you're typically seated next to your dining partner rather than across from which adds to the ambiance of the place. Ordering is possible on the screen next to the cashier desk and was really easy and intuitive but it's also possible to just give your ordee to staff. Food was ready quickly. Noodles were really good, bit difficult to eat as they're very big but that's part of the experience. Mind that the regular spice level (default) is quite spicy, at least compared to european standards, so if you're visiting for the first time it's worth asking the staff what to expect from each spice level. We had to fight our way through as it was way too spicy for us, but that's no fault of the restaurant. Food was great, we especially loved the flavour balance in the spicy cucumber salad. Employee salary and benefits were posted in the window as they were hiring when we visited and seems like staff is paid a livable wage and the ordering screen didn't prompt tipping, I'm assuming because of the staff's salary. Therefore also a super affordable place.

We rode our city rental bikes here so all I can say is that the only parking available for this location is street parking, however I have no idea of the difficulty to find a spot here.

Saw this spot at a youtube channel video about foods to eat in the town, this was highly recommended by the vlog and I got real excited to give it a go.

We came here for lunch during the weekend there was plenty of sitting available.

The staff was nice and friendly, the menu was available on the wall and it a rather large with photos so there is no confusion during ordering.

Some of the meals are soup like and others are regular noodle meals. The soup meals looked pretty large and we went for that.

SPICY PORK NOODLE SOUP (NS4) - this is a soup version with the same type of noodles but it is now floating on a broth. it was pretty testy at first and the spicy is a sneaky one, it won't get to you till a little later.
