TLDR: group of customers didn’t get key ingredients for their order and were refused proper portion despite waiting.
While Chipotle as a brand is phenomenal due to their exceptionally iconic products and customer service, and has been especially an easy go-to choice for vegetarians thanks to the company’s inclusion of variety in options, this branch provided what felt to be quite a poor experience. When asked for a veggie bowl, they had no veggies yet after a bit of back and forth when a group of 3 asked for a substitute or different options the employees finally agreed to provide some freshly grilled veggies, however, what they provided in reality was the tiniest container portion worth of grilled green peppers. I wasn’t aware (grilled or not) veggies actually meant just grilled green peppers. When asked for a proper portion, the employees refused and claimed that would be the actual portion.
This might seem like a no big deal to some and likely especially to those who don’t rely on vegetarian diet, I’d like to point out that when you ask for a specific dish and the key ingredient is missing or barely present it would skew the experience as a whole to be a bit negative.
Normally, I wouldn’t let this sort of thing bother me but knowing that providing a proper portion of this ingredient would not have impacted their lives or the franchise’s financial stability in any way but they chose to make it a problem was concerning.
Furthermore, if you’re not prepared for a specific product the company offers on the menu - why not let your customers know when they order the item? There were not any customers waiting before or after us for quite some time.
Lastly, no one was asking for a free handout here. Rather, the request was to provide what was being paid for. At the very least as a solution the employees could have said they’d provide a small portion of bowl full of veggies to share amongst the three customers even if for a small price.
Overall, even though the location for this franchise is convenient it would be unwise to expect decent (or even sufficient I suppose) customer...

Dear Management,
I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the unsanitary conditions I encountered during my recent visit to your restaurant. Upon entering the premises, I was appalled to find overflowing garbage bins and a general lack of cleanliness throughout the dining area.
The sight and smell of overflowing garbage were not only unpleasant but also deeply concerning from a hygiene standpoint. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to neglect such basic cleanliness standards, especially considering the potential health hazards it poses to both customers and staff.
As a loyal customer, I have always enjoyed the food and service at your establishment. However, the appalling conditions I witnessed during my visit have left me with serious doubts about the overall hygiene and management of your restaurant.
I urge you to take immediate action to address these issues and ensure that such a situation does not occur again in the future. Customers should feel confident in the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the restaurants they choose to dine in.
I sincerely hope that you will take this complaint seriously and implement necessary measures to improve the cleanliness and hygiene of your restaurant. Failure to do so may result in the loss of loyal customers like myself.
Unfortunately, I had to make a purchase because I was going to store for an elderly female who had a craving for the food. Please note there was more than enough workers to handle matters. No I didn’t speak to manager due to me being in a rush. I tried to call restaurant in which I was unsuccessful in speaking to someone.
I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding the steps you will be taking to rectify this...
Read moreI just left this location. I had a deeply frustrating experience at this Chipotle location that I feel compelled to share. I placed an order for two regular chicken bowls. After leaving the store and tasting the food, I realized I was given honey chipotle chicken instead, not what I ordered. That was already disappointing, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned to have both bowls remade. When I explained the issue, one of the associates actually tried to argue with me, insisting that one of the bowls had regular chicken because she "knows what honey chicken looks like." I had to urge her to taste it herself because it was clearly sugary and sweet…definitely not regular chicken. It’s frustrating enough to receive the wrong order, but to be told I’m wrong about what I tasted in my own food was absurd and condescending.
Then, while waiting (which included a 10-minute wait for rice…fine, I was patient), I specifically asked for the smallest amount of the red hot sauce. I made this request clearly. Instead, I was given a full scoop of hot sauce dumped across the bowl, completely overpowering it. It was so spicy it was barely edible.
So not only was my order incorrect the first time, but the remake also ignored my instructions entirely. This shows a serious lack of attention to detail, customer care, and basic professionalism.
I don’t go to Chipotle to have my order mishandled twice and be met with pushback for trying to correct it. I’m disappointed, frustrated, and honestly pissed off that I wasted both time and money on what should have been a simple order.
I will not be returning to this Newark location. This experience was...
