The people giving rave reviews of this place must be fake because that was hands down the WORST asian food I have ever had. I have never taken time out of my life to sit down and write a negative review but I feel like all these false positive reviews are doing a disservice to the community.
At first glance everything looked fine, a little heavy on the breading of the General Tso's but otherwise no big deal.
The General Tso's had absolutely no flavor, and Im not being dramatic, no flavor. Imagine biting into a piece of chicken the size of a quarter with half an inch of batter on it and then soaked in an orange flavorless liquid and that is what the GeneralTsos is here.
Next is the Chow Fun which seemed to be a hit in the reviews...Again, absolutely no flavor. The beef was gritty and grizzled. Food textures have never bothered me, but this seemed extremely off.
On to the PuPu Platter. Who can screw up a PuPu Platter? Everything that was fried was not cooked. Upon biting into a fried shrimp I was greeted with a rush of cold uncooked batter instead of a firm shrimp.
Last the Hot and Sour Soup which was nether hot nor sour and again lacked any form of flavor.
Let me end this with stating that I am by no means a picky eater, I also am not a food snob, I am aware that this isn't a Michelin rated restaurant. I was just looking for some quick Chinese and ordered based off the posts here which were mostly 4 star ratings. I was so grossed out by the whole experience that we threw out the entire order. What an absolute waste of time, food, and money.

Read moreI have been visiting Newport for several weeks while I attend a school on the naval station. After several bad meals from Good Friends Chinese in Newport, I decided to give Kio's a chance. Bottom line up front: the food quality is good at Kio's, especially compared to the other Chinese restaurant that delivers to the naval station.
Kio's prices are fair and the food quality is good for Americanized Chinese food. The portions are large, which is nice.
My only complaint with Kio's was the trouble that I had when trying to order. If you visit Kio's website and click "order online", BeyondMenu states that the restaurant has not enabled online ordering. When I attempted to call the phone number listed on the website, I immediately received a busy signal each time I called.
The website listed on google maps for Kio's was incorrect (I submitted an edit). By clicking on the link to the menu on Google Maps, I was taken to the correct online ordering company. Kio's need to sort our their online presence to make it easier to order.
Kio's Stir Fry is a good choice for quick...

We ordered lunch for delivery one time after they left a flyer on our front door. There was nothing particularly wrong with the flavor of the food, it just didn't stand out in any way. The Lemon Chicken had such thick breading that there was almost no actual chicken in any bite, and it was greasy to the point that the breading was mushy. The Crab Rangoon had a decent flavor, but had very little actual filling in it. The Chicken with Cashew nut was the best out of the food we received, and it was average at best.
All in all, I will not order from here again and would not recommend it. Take a minute and look around for another option in Newport... you have a lot to...
