First of all, let me start off by giving a quote that Iāve heard a while ago,ā People donāt care how much you know until they know how much you care.ā While some have attributed this saying to Theodore Roosevelt, it is uncertain of where itās really from. Originally I walked into a restaurant that Iāve actually enjoyed for quite some time now while I get that it was Motherās Day and that I didnāt have a reservation, I was snubbed by one of the managers who didnāt even so much as come over to say hello. He just looked at me in disgust and walked away sending somebody else to greet me who told me that they were fully booked however, if I wanted to sit in an area they have that really isnāt comfortable for dining necessarily. I simply walked out with a smile on my face because this was my birthday, not just Motherās Day and I knew that someone would be more than happy to take my money and do it with pleasure and excellence. I drove over to Capital Grille, one of my favorite restaurantsā¼ļø And was greeted immediately & kindly by one of the managers by the name of Melody who told me that they were booked however, she gave me and option to sit at the bar and I said no thank you because I personally donāt like eating normally at bars however, she then said, we can make something happen & I patiently waited (& frankly because of the level of hospitality, I thought to myself,ā maybe if theyāre no more options, I will take the bar option possibly, or try another spot.) Anyway, next thing you know I was being whisked away by a wonderful hostess by the name of Raquelā¼ļø Raquel was so nice and kind taking me upstairs to a table that was beautifully decorated that had a yellow rose, a birthday card for me from the restaurantā¼ļø Next, I was immediately greeted by an awesome professional by the name of Julian who right from the start knew his stuffā¼ļø I mean what a consummate professional, a gentleman and a scholar for that matter. I did take a couple of his recommendations & thoroughly enjoyed themā¼ļøš And he knew that menuā¼ļø What a great server & I highly recommend that you ask for Julian when you go there, if heās available he will be so happy to take care of youā¼ļø I also met a serverās assistant who worked very hard the entire time by the name of Danielā¼ļø What a wonderful professional young manā¼ļø The food of course, was absolutely deliciousā¼ļø One canāt ever go wrong at a top tier restaurant such as this oneā¼ļø I celebrated my mom hereā¼ļø I started out with the Lobster Bisque soupš„°ā¤ļøšI enjoyed the miso butter sea bass, its so scrumptious and made to perfection with asparagus! I also added a couple side dishes that were delectable: such as sautĆ©ed spinach and Brussels sprouts! Yummyā¼ļøā¼ļøā¼ļø Again, while Julian is an exceptional server that I will be going back soon to dine with because of his level of professionalism, I observed great teamwork on the floor, these guys all celebrated and served one another with passion, grace and gratitude! By the way, these are the qualities that Julian has in the palm of his hand. What a very talented individual. Thank you again Melody for making my holiday (birthday) so very specialā¼ļø I will be more than glad to bring you more business as I do everywhere I go. Thx again and May God continue to richly bless your business in every way and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeāve been going to The Capital Grille in Skokie for years and always chose it for birthdays and anniversaries because the food and service were usually amazing. But sadly, our 10-year anniversary dinner there was such a horrible experience, we left completely disappointed.
We had made a reservation and noted that we were celebrating our anniversary. In the past, theyāve always made it special table set up with glitter, a card, nice little touches. But this time, the person who seated us didnāt acknowledge it at all, even when we mentioned it again politely. He just ignored it and sat us down.
From there, it kept going downhill. We didnāt even get the usual bread basket until we asked for it, and when it came, it was cold. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was also cold and just poorly made. We didnāt complain because we didnāt want to ruin the evening, but things didnāt get better.
What really hurt was seeing the manager go to the table next to us, check on them, and completely ignore us. Thatās never happened before someone from the team always checks in, especially on a special occasion. Our server seemed uninterested, didnāt explain the dessert menu, and even forgot to refill our water.
At that point, we just wanted to leave. We told her we had to go pick up our son since it was getting late. After all the effort we put into arranging the night, getting childcare, and choosing this place ā it felt like a total waste.
This was the worst experience weāve had there, and honestly, I donāt think weāll be going back. Itās sad because we really loved this place and were loyal customers, but this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just returned from dining with our dear friend of many years for Thanksgiving dinner and I felt compelled to write this review. My husband had ordered a Caesar Salad and I had ordered a Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. When I looked at the Caesar Salad I was a bit confused as it was all white! There was not one green piece of lettuce on the plate. It was all made from the white part of iceberg lettuce, and I had never seen a Caesar Salad that looked like that. Then came my Beet and Goat Cheese Salad.....this was in error, because what I had was a mixed green salad. When I called the waiter over, he took that salad away and came back with, I believe, the same salad with a few chopped beets on top and two half dollar flat rings of goat cheese on the bottom. 90% of the salad was fresh greens. In fact, when I mentioned this to the waiter, he stated that other people had mentioned the same thing. Well, if this had been complained about before, would the restaurant either change the wording of the salad to state greens with a dash of beets and accent of goat cheese, instead of reading a beet and goat cheese salad. Then we waited for a very long time for our dinner, over 30 minutes. Nothing was complicated, the turkey special, the tuna and the salmon. We had also asked for a bit more butter and that took mentioning to another waiter to finally get some. When the price of a dinner is $200 one would expect food to reflect that cost and the service to also be excellent. This was all very disappointing and we will not be dining...
