McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Norman

As soon as we pulled up my gut instinct told me I should just drive away. We were clearly one of the first customers of the day and the doors leading into the restaurant were covered in dirty fingerprints and handprints all over the glass like nobody has cleaned them from the day before. The restaurant was empty as we walked in. We noticed after we ordered and went to sit down there are a lot of tables that looked dirty also a lot of booths that had crumbs left on them. We picked the cleanest looking one and sat down. The food came pretty quick and we started eating. As we looked around we could see that the floors were not only sticky but also not swept. There was dirt and debris all over the floor. If it looks like this in the front, what does it look like in the back where they prepare the food? My wife finished her food and as I went to pick up the other half of my sandwich I noticed there was a hair on my plate. That is where I drew the line we got up and walked out without finishing. I visited this McAlister's location to grab lunch and take advantage of an in-app special offer..

I selected a Choose Two with a customized half club (no Swiss or honey mustard and white versus wheat bread) and a cup of chili as my selections..

I placed my order in the app for tableside service.. The estimated wait time was 12 minutes, and my fresh food arrived tableside in under 10..

The club was fresh.. The deli meats and tomato were nice and cool/cold as they should be for this sandwich, and the bread was perfectly toasted.. I enjoy that the mayo wasn't heavily applied, which allowed for a great balance of flavor between the meats, cheese, and the crisp veggies..

The chili was served hot and delivered the taste I've come to expect from years of enjoying it at McAlister's locations across several states..

All in all, it was a great visit.. Housekeeping was a little lacking, but that's par for the course for most fast and fast casual restaurants these days.. It won't keep me from revisiting this location in...

My husband and I had to wait for our food for 15 minutes which that wouldn’t be a problem, but our food sat in the window while staff sat around not bringing out food to us. My soup was cold I had to ask for a new one and they just heated it up in the microwave for maybe 30 seconds. My husbands bread was stale and the chicken was cold on his sandwich.

A lady came in before us and was waiting for her to go order. After 20 minutes of waiting she ask for her Togo order again and the staff said “oh that went to someone else, sorry. We are out of Spuds now”.

I understand times are tough with staff, but there was plenty of staff to run food orders out. And some of the staff are not very professional. A member is wearing saggy pants and their hood up. Too busy talking behind the counter to care about the guest. The manager seems to be their friend.

Kaylee was the only staff member that was very helpful and apologetic. She seemed to care and was the only one trying to do everyone’s job....
