I'm writing this review as a former employee (and now occasional customer). The star that I gave equals half a star for delicious food, and half a star for my nice former coworkers. So, as a now occasional customer, the food is still as delicious as it was when I worked there; I didn't try too many tacos, but my 2 faves are the Crossroads and the Missionary (from the secret menu). That's right; if you didn't know until just now, Torchy's has a secret menu, so you should ask to see it next time you go in! :) As a customer and former employee, I think the tacos are very creative; I'd certainly never seen such inventive varieties before I started working there! Now, my words as a former employee: While I enjoyed the interaction with customers, I had a truly terrible time working there, as I was being scheduled nowhere near the hours I needed to be financially stable. Yes, I realize it was a part-time job and that Torchy's never gives their employees full-time hours (at least as far as my understanding went), but if an employee desires/requires a minimum number of hours each week, the GM needs to make an effort to schedule their employees those hours in order to avoid losing those employees. I've worked other part-time jobs before, and was making sufficient income for the amount of my monthly expenses. I don't see why Chris found it so freaking difficult to get his employees the hours that he knew they needed, especially after he told my to my face that he would hate for me to have to find additional or alternate employment!!! I put in a two weeks notice about 2 months after starting my employment, but then decided to take it back and give the place more of a chance after I was suddenly getting scheduled the hours I needed. Big mistake! Those needed hours only lasted for 2 weeks, then it was right back to 10 or so hours less than what I needed, what Chris knew I needed. I won't mention the things that ensued in my life in the following weeks as I was looking for other employment, but thankfully and miraculously, I was able to find alternate employment! I had originally planned to change my availability and continue working at Torchy's a couple nights a week in addition the newly found day job, but after taking some counsel into consideration, I felt it was best to just leave Torchy's. Because I was so deeply drowning financially so much during my time at Torchy's, I was still trying to get caught up with my expenses by the time Christmas came around, and I was unable to afford to make a trip to see my family, so I was alone on Christmas Day for the first time in my life. I know I wasn't the only employee having financial difficulties thanks to Chris, and I hope those other employees have been able to find employment that better meets their needs! I know that Chris is no longer the GM, and I hope the new manager is someone who actually cares about their employees and their needs! Alright, I've said enough, so thanks...
Read moreFirst and second time to this place was awesome. I loved it!! Great food, great bartender but last Sunday I had the most rude and disrespectful treatment. My story. My husband and I decided to go have lunch here, on getting there, it was raining cats and dogs. So we decided to wait in the car, we waited for approximately 2hrs. When the rain lessened, we managed to get in, sat at the bar and these happened: Firstly, where we sat needed to be cleaned, the bartender ( Devin, whom I later got his name from the check) practically ignored us, walked clear down to the other side of the bar where no one was sitting, took his time to clean up that side of the bar table before walking back to us to clean our table. Next with an attitude he demanded an ID from my husband whom anyone including a blind person could tell that he's very over 50yrs.(meanwhile this did not happen the other times we were here). He then requested my ID, I had forgotten my purse in the car because of the rain, so my husband had to go back in the rain get it from the car. I placed an order for a Margarita. Again with an attitude he brought it and I requested a shot of Grand Marnier. (Back story : I always like to drink Grand Marnier margarita, when I go to restaurants/bars that don’t add Grand Marnier to their margarita, I usually order a shot to add to it. ) which is what I had done here the other time I was here. Devin was quite reluctant to get me this shot, giving all the vibes that he didn’t want us there. So when he eventually brought the “shot”, he brought something in the bottom of a shot glass that wasn’t up to two tea spoons. When I asked why, he mumbled some words through his nose along with this smug look. Now, it wasn’t the fact that he refused to serve me a shot, it was the rude and negative attitude he had displayed right from the moment we walked into the bar and in my entire We decided we didn’t want anything else, we were just going to just drink what was already there and leave. He asked if we wanted anything else, I said no, because his attitude is making us feel unwelcome. We asked for the check and the next thing he said was “it’s been paid for”! That was the final straw. Who in the world treats you like that and then tells you your drink has been paid for. We insisted on getting the bill, we paid and we left! I have never encountered such a rude person working in a hospitality. My husband felt so bad he couldn’t utter a word, he just wanted to leave. The lady who attended to us(bless her soul) the last time was awesome, the total opposite of this guy.

Read moreToday 8/18/18 about 6pm my husband and I went into Torchys in NORMAN. We had never been and were eager to try it out. We walked in and were surprised that no one greeted us nor did anyone ask us to be seated. We walked to the bar area and took a seat. There were two bartenders working. They both saw us but neither of them asked us if we would like anything to drink. The female bartender didn’t even say hi to us. Two other couples showed up after us and also took a seat at the bar , the male bartender immediately went to one of the couples and took their drink order. When he delivered their drinks, he walked over to the second couple that arrived after us and served them their drinks. I was furious but didn’t make a scene. Finally after about 10 minutes the female bartender came to us and asked us for our drink order , I asked for a margarita on the rocks and my husband asked for a BudLight, she told him that they do not carry BudLight, which was extremely odd because everywhere we go they carry budlight, I mean who doesn’t love DILLY DILLY, right?! At that point we had had enough. We told the female bartender that we would just take our business elsewhere. So we walked out and went right next door to Chili’s, where we walked to the bar to have a seat and with in seconds we were greeted and with in about 3 minutes we both had our drinks. I had my margarita on the rocks and my husband had a BudLight draft which was amazing! We will never go back to torchys, and I honestly hope that it was simply that the two bartenders were just having a bad day and that’s why we received bad customer service from both of them and not that it was because we were Hispanic. I failed to mention earlier that the two bartenders were caucasion and the two couples that arrived after us were also Caucasian. If being Hispanic was the reason we were treated like that, what a disgrace! I made sure to include the date and time so the owner can pull video footage and see that my post is not...
